Cauchemar is the French translation for nightmare. He is a supposed demon of nightmares and he knows your greatest fears, that's basically from what people that have seen him have said about the supposed creature...
Very few that have ever seen him have survived, there is no depiction of him at this time that anyone knows of, most of the survivors have been frightened out of their wits when they were asked by authorities to sketch a drawing of the attacker..
Right below is a conversation with a survivor after she was attacked by cauchemar.
Police officer- Ms, can you please tell us what happened that night, and describe what your assailant looks like to our sketch artist?
Victim- *Sobbing* I can't tell you.. I-I can't!
Police officer- Why is that? What will happen if you do?
Victim- H-he'll kill me, he'll make me into.. one of his, monstrosities
Police officer- Just.. give me a tiny description of what he looks like.. If he comes we will protect you..
Victim- *relaxes* um.. He's just really tall with white hair, he wears a blindfol- *stiffens and screams* HE'S RIGHT BEHIND YOU!
Police officer- OH MY GOD! HEL-
The recorded conversation just basically ends with some gun fire, and then.. silence. Not any other conversations are known at this time. I might delve into research about this demon later.

Just now I feel like I'm being watched, its like he knows that I've been studying him and his origins, I hear an insane laughter and snapping and closing of scissors, I have my gun at the ready to defend myself. I see him, he's there.. what is he doing, oh God. I see his face, SOMEBODY HELP ME! PLEA-
