Chapter 3- Flowers
2:30 p.m. Elgin.
“And I took you by the hand
And we stood tall,
And remembered our own land,
What we lived for.
And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.”
Rose was unpacking the last few boxes left from her move when a hard knock on her two-story apartment door making her jump a little. She was still keyed up from last night phone call. When Rose open the door, two men in blue police uniforms came in. before she got a chance to ask what was going on, they started asking questions.
“Are you Rosemary King?” One them asked.
“Just Rose, but yes. Why?” Rose answers, a little put off.
“Do you live here alone?” The other one asked, completely ignoring her question.
“Yes, is something wrong?” She tried again.
“Did you call in to the station early this morning to report a phone call?” They continued, angering Rose further for not answering her questions.
“Ya.” Rose said, giving up on getting answers herself.
“Is your sister Ivy King?”
“Yes, why, what happened? Is Ivy okay?” Hearing her sister’s name instantly put her on the defense.
“Rose, can you please come with us? We can explain at the station-” The first one spoke gently.
“No! not till I get some answers! What happen to my sister?” Rose grunted, putting her foot down. The officers looked at each other as if debating whether or not the tell her. Well too bad, she thought, I’m not going anywhere until they do.
“Your sister has been reported missing.” One said carefully.
“WHAT?! How? W-when?” Rose all but screamed out.
“When your sister didn’t show up for work this morning her boss, Christian Badica, called her house only to get a busy signal. So he drove out there and saw the front door open and he call the cops. They found the house a mess and your sister no where to be found.” Rose didn’t know what to say. Her sister, her baby sister, was missing? Who would take her? Would they hurt her? Or worst, kill her.
“Ma’am…Rose, I know how you must be feeling, but we really need you to come with us, for your sister.” The same officer as before spoke up, gently toughing her arm. Rose wanted to jerk away but felt to numb to do so.
“O-ok, I’ll go.” She stuttered.

The police drove Rose to the Elgin Police Department then Lead her though the crowed office filled with detectives all working on different cases. They lead her deeper into the small building then lead her into a really small room with nothing but two chairs, side-by-side. On the other side of the room there was a door that read: Detective Mitchell Zohar.
“Detective Mitchell will be with you shortly.” The more harsh one of the two officers that escorted her said before leaving the room and slamming the door behind him, making Rose jump.
