Chapter 5

Mazy. How could I let this have happen to her ? Why did I leave her ? I glanced at the clock it was 10:00pm - 1 more hour. How could I possibly wait that long? Every minute passing by seems like a lifetime. Once i find out who did this I will get my revenge no matter what! 

I looked at Rosy, who had now finally fallen asleep after endless tears and What ifs I maneged to convince her that its all one big joke. I wish I could convince myself, I wish I was'nt the oldest. If only there was someone who would look after me and most of all I wish I was as gullible as little kids were these days. 

Rosy stirred in her sleep snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Are you ok?" I asked her.

"Mazy...wheres Mazy?"  She answered looking around for her.

" She...I...we're going to get her in a few minutes. Get up and wash you'r face then i'll get you something to eat. " I replied gently pushing her towards the bathroom.

I opened the food suitcase and got out some crisps and two cans of coke. I hadn't eaten since this morning but somehow I had lost my appetite and i still wasn't hungry, nonetheless I still set the food up on the bed on a tray the hotel services 'kindly' equipped us with.  I glanced at the watch 10:15pm. That's it ? Could time go any slower? 

Rosy walked out of the bathroom, sat on the bed and just looked at the snack.

"Laila, I don't feel right eating without Mazy, c -c-can we wait until she c-c-comes?"  She stammered.    

If she comes, A voice echoed at the back of my head. I blocked it out and concentrated on Rosy. She hadn't stammered for a very long time and she only did it if she was very nervous and or scared.

"I know it dosen't fell right without her but you have to eat something now, you havn't eaten all day arnn't you hungry?

"No n-not really." She shook her head.

"Please eat something... for Mazy?"

"Ok, but only for Mazy." She replied reaching out for the crisps, " Aren't you gonna eat?" She asked when she noticed that i was just sitting there staring at her.

"um sure." I grabbed the can and started drinking it.

As I was clearing up the plates I glanced at my watch for the hundredth time. 10:40pm. I got the note out of my pocket and re-read it, no matter how many times i read it, it still says the exact same thing,

I have your sister. Do as i say or she dies. Meet me in the ally way at 11:00pm today - Alone. If you want to see your sister in one piece again. 

I didn't even know what 'ally way' this kidnapper was on about. I just vaguely remember passing a dark place before we got to this hotel. Maybe that could be the ally way? I glanced at the watch again , 10:45pm, did i already mention that this time was going by impossibly slow? 

That's it, I cant wait anymore, I need to get there early and who knows how it will take me to find the ally way. I can't be late, no matter what happens. 

I grabbed my shoes then dressed Rosy up, and then took Mazy's coat (just in case its cold) and some snacks for her. the letter said meet me in the ally way ALONE, the voice in my head boomed once again, But there was no way I was going to leave Rosy here on her own. I'd already learnt my lesson. 

I urged Rosy out of the 'suite', making sure to lock the door, Then we both ran all the way down the stairs and out into the coolness of the night sky.

It was freezing outside, I'm glad I brought Mazy's coat. We ran to the dark place we had seen earlier and sure enough it turned out to be an ally way, one with a dead end.

There were dustbins everywhere and open pizza boxes and too many unidentified things. This place was worse than the day our house had been trashed. A lot worse. I could see rats scuttling from bin to bin. Rosy squeezed my hand tight and moved closer to me. Suddenly a cat screamed in the near distance making my heart jump. I held onto Rosy as tight as I could, glancing at my watch, 11:01pm.

"I thought i told you to come ALONE!" A deep voice,with a heavy Spanish accent, growled from behind me.

My heart raced 1000mph. I hesitantly turned around and was met by the cold evil stare of the  creepy mustache man.He was in all black again and I noticed a long scar on his forehead which I didn't  see this morning.  

"You! You horrible, pervy B******" I screamed at him, Surprised at my own anger. wow I thought, I didn't know i had it in me.

"Why is that girl with you?, can't you read, it said Alone!" He repeated, ignoring my outburst.

"There's no way I was going to leave her alone. Where's Mazy?" 

" She's here, somewhere, and you can see after her but first you need to do something for me."

He said, lowering his voice. I took a step back as he came closer, he was so close to me i could smell him, he reeked of cigarette smoke. I kept taking footsteps backwards as he kept approaching me, my grip on Rosy tightening. Suddenly my back was hit against the brick wall. There was no place left to run. He had us cornered.

"What..what is it you want?" I whispered.
