We drove for 20 minutes around town. I sat in the passenger seat, looking out of the window.
The drive was exactly what I needed to calm myself down. I didn't know that I needed the drive but Megan did and I couldn't be more grateful for her in that moment. She knew me better than I knew myself.
I finally told Megan what had happened once the tears stopped.
"You know you don't deserve that right." She said softly, not taking her eyes off of the road.
"I know I don't" I said, looking over at her.
Her forehead was a little but scrunched and her mouth was set in a hard line.
"What is it" I said, knowing that she was wanting to say something.
"I just... I don't know, I'm having trouble comprehending something"
"That being" I said, nervous of what she might say.
"When he ran in front of the car, he was scared but not about the car, he looked like he was scared about you leaving. I can't understand why he would be that genuinely scared to lose you if he was with that other girl."
Megan was always good at reading people. She had this ability of being able to analyze people and see through them almost. She had been like that since we were small, it's something I've never been able to understand fully but I have never questioned it either.
I trusted what she was saying even if I didn't want to. Maybe he was scared to lose me but that doesn't explain why he was with her.
"I don't think I can answer that" I said, looking down at my hands.
It was around 7:45 when I got home.
"Thank you meg." I said, giving her the biggest hug I could manage and sending her a small smile. I really appreciated her more than she would ever know.
I walked into the house and was instantly greeted by my mother who rushed up to me, pulling me into an embrace. I didn't really expect her to be home but I accepted the hug with ease.
"I was worried sick about you." She cooed, pushing the hair away from my face. She noticed that my eyes were red and puffy and gave me a sympathetic look. "Oh sweetie" she said sadly.
"I'm okay mom but is it alright if I just go to my room, I'm kind of exhausted" I said sending her a small smile.
"If you need anything at all, just call" she said grabbing her bag and kissing the top of my head. I was kind of glad she had to go to work, now she wouldn't be able to check on me ever 2 minutes like she always did when she was worried about me.
I walked up the stairs and to my bedroom.
I opened the door and walked into my room, the familiar smell feeling comforting almost.
I let out a sigh before bringing my eyes up to the room.
"Emily" he said rising from my bed. His face was the saddest I had ever seen and I almost felt sad for him until I remembered what he did.
The tears in my eyes surfaced once more which only frustrated me.
"Please baby, listen to me for five second" he said walking towards me and grabbing my hands.
"Don't touch me." I seethed, taking a step back.
A hurt expression swept across his face.
"Emily I'm so sorry. I love you so much Emily please don't do this" he pleaded.
