00:00 JUL 17TH 2013 JUMP CITY

I stood on top of one of the gargoyles on the church that Kara had flown through a while back, looking over the city while listening to the police scanner. I'd decided to go on patrol alone tonight to try and clear my head.

"What's up short shorts?" I heard a familiar voice asked from the roof behind me. "Where's the rest of the Titans."

"It's quiet tonight, I decided I'd patrol on my own. The question is what are you doing here?" I answered leaning back against the slanted roof as Babs slid down next to me.

"Batman's putting Jay through some training exercises so I thought I'd visit you, it's been a while since I've seen my best friend." She answered, looking over at me with a big smile on her face. "So what have you been up to lately?"

"Nothing much since we last spoke." I said; referring to the phone call I'd had with her a few days ago. "How about you, you're interning at the GCPD now aren't you?"

"Yeah, It's just computer maintenance, but hey you gotta start somewhere." She answered, looking up at the moon. "Though I guess it's not much compared to working with Batman, and you of course."

"I don't think they'd let you put vigilante work on your resume." I laughed, smiling up at her. "You know, Jay would make a good Robin, wouldn't he."

"Where'd that come from, are you thinking about retiring or something?" Babs asked, looking over at me as I stared out towards the bay and Gotham city across it.

"No, but I can't be Robin forever now can I." I said, chuckling a bit after wards. "I mean, there's only so many ways you can make red and green look manly."

"I guess so." Babs laughed in response before staring stoically out at the ocean as well. "But what would you call yourself?"

"I don't know, maybe Night Owl." I joked, looking back up at my friend, but she wasn't smiling. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"I don't know; it's just that I hardly see you as it is, and now you're talking about changing your name. Dick, how are we going to be friends when we don't even work together anymore?"

"Babs, we're not just friends because we're Batgirl and Robin. We're friends because that's what we've always been, and I wouldn't know what to do without you." I said, smirking up at her.

"Yeah, you are pretty useless on your own." She said, cracking a smile of her own.

"We have a robbery in progress; the suspect is armed and dangerous, approach with caution." I heard my police scanner chime in and I looked up at Babs.

"Armed robbery, you up for it?" I asked, smiling up at Babs. "Come on it'll be fun." I said as I turned around and started to walk backwards off the gargoyle.

"Fine, but try not to show off, okay." She said right before she jumped off the roof and expanded her cape.

'Yeah, and I'm the show of.' I said as I fell backwards off the gargoyle and spun around before expanding my cape to catch up with her. "Hey, you do realize I'm the ones with the coordinate's right?" I said as I caught up to her.

"Yeah, yeah, lead the way boy wonder." She said as I glided left over her and begand heading away from the harbor.

I saw the jewlry store that was being robbed with two police cars in front of it and dropped down behind them. I looked around, not seeing anyone before I turned on my detective vision.

"I'm only picking up one heat signature, and they appear to be holding some kind of gun, can you get some imagery from the security cameras?" I said, not even glancing over at Babs

"Already on it." She said, the sound of her holo computer accompanying it. "there are five people inside, four of which are deceased cops. The fifth looks to be wearing a League of shadow uniform, but the mask looks weird."

"Let me guess, there's and orange circle in the middle." I said, knowing exactly who we were dealing with.

"Not quite, they look more like stripes." She said, drawing my attention to her. "Why would you think it was a circle?"

"That's usually what Deathstrokes men wear." I said, looking back at the building. "Do you have a jammer?"

"No, how about you?" she answered, not skipping a beat. "If you don't I could probably program one though."

"We don't have time; we'll just have to improvise." I said, walking in between the two cars. "Get your claw ready."

I charged in, breaking through the glass door and launched my Robin claw at the Terminators gun, but when it snagged I was pulled forward and onto the ground.

"Don't be too hasty Robin." He said before catching something out of the air. When I looked up I saw he was pulling on a metal cord with his left arm and pointing an automatic gun at me with the other. "Richard Barbara, I'm just here to deliver a message."

Babs dropped her bat claw and the man caught it, not taking his eyes off of me. He pulled a small black box out of his utility belt and through it in front of me before walking past Babs and me.

Once he'd left Babs ran up to me and helped me get off the ground. I picked up the box and realized it was actually a mini T.V.
