I gave up. I did not know where to start. I sat down on the living room sofa to watch some TV. My favorite show 'Spongebob' was on. It was the latest episode.
My friend David called again. I sighed as I wondered what news he would bring to me yet again.
"Hello David"
'Hi. You want to come to Jack's funeral ceremony later at noon?'
"I suppose so. Are you going as well?"
'No. I have some classes to attend to. Tell his parents I said Hi.'
"Ok. Bye"
At least he didn't bring any sad news. If he had I would have went straight over to his house and punch him in the face.
I got dressed and went to Jack's house for the funeral ceremony.
The atmosphere at Jack's house was gloomy and filled with sounds of people crying. I met with Jack's parents. They were in a distraught state. When they saw me, I think they loss their minds as I was Jack's childhood friend, maybe I brought back some painful memories for them. I quickly walked away and got a seat as the ceremony started.
The ceremony brought back some memories of my own with Jack as well. It was painful. I did not want to think about it. I sat there as I tried to keep a calm expression as I watched the ceremony.
Halfway through the ceremony, I heard some voices murmuring behind me.
"Hey, do you know how Jack was murdered?"
'Well, I heard the rumors. I heard that he was murdered by the guy called James Hook. You know, the guy who escaped from prison days ago.'
A third voice joined the conversation behind me.
" It was a cold blooded murder I heard. Jack was hung in his own living room. No one knows why."
'I heard that he's targeting someone now. For kidnapping or whatsoever.'
"Who?"
'Some guy named David Fletcher'
I froze. David Fletcher, my best friend. If what they were saying was true, then David was in serious trouble.
I lowered my head as I thought of what to do next. There was something on the tip of my shoe. A piece of paper. I bent down to pick it up. It was a note. On it were the words:
"Come find me at the abandoned docks if you want to see him alive"
