Beep, beep.
Who's sending me a message?
Beep, beep.
Hold on... That's not a phone.
Beep beep.
I slowly open my eyes and immediately freak out. Where the hell am I??
The beeping sounds quickens when I frantically look around the room. I'm in some kind of white room lying in a bed and I'm wearing some weird white gown?? What the hell is going on?!
I get up but I'm abruptly pulled back, what the fu- There's some freaking wires attached to me! I rip them off and get up from the bed but I fall down since my legs don't have enough strength to carry me. Blackness takes over.
"She fell down but no more damage was done." A sound of a female voice wakes me up.
"What's going on?" I force the question out of my mouth which makes me cough. Uff, why does it hurt to speak? I open my eyes to meet a nurse and a doctor. "Miss, you need to rest. You are in a hospital."
Hospital? What, why?! Suddenly everything disappears and a flashback hits me like a tide. Drew holds my hand and his voice is filled with distress and panic. "I'm sorry Melina, I-" Then a horrible sound of metal crashing mutes out everything else and all I can see is darkness.
I shoot my eyes open and sit up. "Drew?!?! Where is he?! Is Drew okay?!?! DREWWW!!" I scream, my voice is laced with anxiety. The doctor presses me down from my shoulders but I wriggle in his arms. "No!! I need to get to Drew! Where is-"
"MISS, you need to calm down, now!" The doctor voice is stern and powerful. I flinch, slightly afraid. I stop fighting against him and tears start pouring. Where's Drew??
"Good, now tell me Melina. How do you feel?" The doctor sounds suddenly completely calm.
"You don't answer me about Drew, how do you think I feel???" I yell through my tears. My throat seems to me in flames at this point, making it hard to produce words because of the excruciating pain.
"Melina, you were in a surgery. It's critical for us to know how you feel."
The calmness in his voice and eyes eases my panic. There's no way he'll answer me before I reply to his questions. I take a moment to analyze myself. "I think I'm fine. Well my stomach and chest hurts. Also my throat when I speak. But please tell me... Drew, where is he? What happened?" I plead heartbrokenly the doctor to give me an answer.
The doctor sighs. "Drew was taking you to the hospital but a deer jump in front of the car. He tried to avoid it and accidentally drove off the road."
The tone in his voice is making me freak out. Please oh god, don't let him be hurt! "Did he-" I choke out before I manage to finish the sentence. The doctor gives me a comforting smile. "Drew is alive. He was pretty bruised up and we had to take him into surgery. Everything was successful and he is in the room across the hall. He hasn't woken up yet but he should be back on his feet in no time."
More tears fall down my cheeks and I feel a weight being lifted from my shoulders. I can breathe again. He is fine, he is fine, thank you.
"But Melina, we need to focus on you." The doctor interrupts my thoughts and takes my hand in his. My heart beat rises and my stomach twists in knots. Whatever he is about to say, I can feel it's something I don't want to hear.
"You were suffering from severe internal bleeding and you had several broken ribs. You are awake now which is a good sign but you're still in a critical state so you need to take it easy, no getting off the bed anymore. It can be extremely dangerous. Do you understand?"
