They left me alone for the night. The day was pretty awkward. I spent most of it in the room.
Thump
I collapse onto the bed. It had been a long, yet short, day. I had a lot to think about. Should I tell them? Could I trust them?
"GIF CAN I USE DAT CRAYON PWEASE?"
"I'm almost done though..." He replied with a small pout.
"Pwease?"
"Okayyy, can I have it back when you're done?" He said handing me the blue paint brush.
"Okie!" I exclaimed. I finished, messily, filling in my ocean of sorts and handed it back to him.
"Dank you!"
"You're welcome!"
"Aren't you two the cutest!" Griffin's mother said. Neither of us had seen her so we both turn around startled. Griffin still had the paint brush in his hand and some of it flicks onto his mother's night gown.
"Grif! Oh my, I hope this come out in the wash. Come on you two, time for bed."
"5 more minutes pwease?" Grif was fully capable of saying 'please' but he was trying to convince his mom with his cuteness while it lasted.
"You said that 5 minutes ago sweetie. Come on, to bed."
Didn't work...
"Ok..." Grif and I say in unison.
"GRIFFFFFFFF! CAKEEEE COME OVER HERE" For some reason, Em always called me Cake instead of my actual name. I blame her obsession for food.
"WE'RE COMMING" Griffin yells back. Without warning, he grabs my wrist and starts leading me to Em. Of course, she's in the garden. She always was when she wasn't eating or sleeping.
Without saying anything. Em points to her favorite tree to climb.
"SQUIRREL"
"Em, you don't have to shout. We're right here."
"Squirrel." She whispers mockingly with a smile to match.
After exchanging looks, we look at the tree. I did see the squirrel. It looked at us with curious eyes. Grif started to step forward and it quickly ran off.
"Griffffffff." Em groaned in annoyance.
"Sorry Em." He replied. Sticking his hands in his pockets only to remember there weren't any there. He copied his father on that move.
"GRIF, EM, CAKE, COME ON, TO BED!"
"Mommy my name isn't Cake."
"Well honey, who doesn't like a nickname?" she said with her signature smile.
"Only Em calls me Cake." I say crossing my arms in a sassy pose.
"Okay sweetie. And stop doing that! Come on now, to bed."
"Okay."
We let her lead us to our separate bedrooms and go inside to change to our night clothes. We do the usual. Brush our teeth, shower. I open my bedroom door to see Em's open as well. We exchange a glance and in unison sneak over to Griffin's room and open the door. As usual, he's asleep. Em and I giggle as we ponder how to wake him up. Between tickling him or dumping water on his face. We go for water. We grab a small glass from the bathroom and fill it with water. We go back to his bed and see that he's not there. We freeze.
"Grif?"
"HA!"
We both fall back startled from Grif's abrupt and startling appearance.
"GRIFFIN!" Em shouts.
Creak
We share a panicked look. Em and I go into the bathroom to hide in the shower while Grif grabs the glass Em was holding and pretends to be drinking it.
"Honey? Grif are you okay?"
"I'm fine Mother."
"Griffin, is Em and Cake in here?" Griffin's dad says.
"ONLY EM CALLS ME CAKE!" I shout not thinking at all.
I slap my hand over my mouth as I hear his foot steps near the shower.
"Hm, I heard something in here. I wonder who it was..."
Em and I giggle a little. Griffin's dad always love to play around.
"GOT YA!" He said abruptly opening the shower curtain.
Em and I are sent into a fit of giggles as he scoops us up and carries us to our rooms.
I smile at the memory. I had so many good ones. Maybe I could trust them. I mean, we were the best of friends. I could really get some things of my mind from the future. I went to the year 2015 or 2014 and someone called Kim K became famous in America for the weirdest thing. I hope Britain doesn't end up like that. That would be terrible.
Lying down on the bed I had a lot of time to think. I thought about more memories. More times that made me believe that I could trust them. Maybe I should tell them... I mean, they are my friends. Are they? Can I trust them?
Back to square one.
