Berwald sighed, then slid down the tree he was leaning on. He was tired, and hungry. There were a few granola bars left in his bag, but he was saving them for later, when he was truly hungry, or when he reached a town. Whichever came first. He wearily looked up at the rising sun in the distance and glanced in the direction he had come from.

The house was long gone, but he could faintly imagine it, the color blending with the large oak trees nearby. Berwald looked up at the tree he was propped up against.

"I should probably sleep now, before the sun is fully out."

Taking the bookbag off of his back and whipping out a water bottle, he hungrily gulped it down, and put it back in his bag. Rummaging around some more, he took out a small blanket. Propping up his bookbag against the tree, Berwald gently put his head on the makeshift pillow and managed to cover most of his legs with the blanket. Looking up one last time at the dwindling stars, Berwald whispered once more,

"I'm sorry Tino."
