Berwald woke up, and the first thing he noticed was the soft bed underneath him, and the second thing he noticed was the shiny black barrel of a gun pointed at him.

A soft, frantic voice drew him out of his sleepy haze.
"Big brother, please don't! I just found him like this. I don't think he's dangerous. Please put the gun down!"

Berwald turned his head to see a young girl, with short, blond hair, and soft green eyes. On the other side of the gun seemed to be her brother. He had shaggy blond hair, and green eyes as well, but they seemed to pierce straight into Berwald.

"Who are you, and why are you here? You went completely undetected by the border guards, and you're a complete stranger!"

Berwald blinked. Last night's run left him completely drained, and he just woke up to an interrogation. Great.

"My name is Berwald Oxentierna. I am here because I left my home. I don't know what 'here' is."

Berwald looked over at the girl who kept on pleading for her brother to put down the gun. Her brother finally relented, and he lowered the gun.

"This is a small village, of which I am the leader of. All visitors must come to me, and then they can stay. Unannounced visitors are not welcome."

The man extended his hand and shook Berwald's own cold, gloved hand.

"I am Vash Zwingli. My sister, and secretary of this village is Lili Zwingli."

The young girl gave a small wave.

"Excuse me, Vash. Could I stay here in your village? I can work and earn my pay and food. I just want to get away from my old home."

Vash looked over at Lili, who had been writing in an official-looking book. He gave a quick nod, and she stamped something in the book.

"Yes. You may be able to stay in this village under one condition. One of our villagers will keep an eye on you for a whole week to make sure you aren't bad news. They will fill you in and inform you on how this village works."

Berwald simply nodded. He had nowhere else to go, and he liked how organized it was here.

Lili approached the tall Swedish man, and gave him a warm smile.

"Welcome to our village, Mr. Oxentierna!"
