Ashkit was dreaming. Ash stirred around her blotting out the sun, she peered through it trying to see something, but she could not. Suddenly a tangy reek hit the back of her throat, making her gag.

A sticky red liquid swirled around her legs, she glanced down. Blood she thought in disgust. She turned to look around and found that the ash that had been swirling a moment before was now settling on the blood. Ashkit looked in awe as the blood collapsed under the ash, less and less until there was nothing left but ash. It flew at her face and blotted out her vision, she felt herself fall painfully to the ground but as soon as she did the ash covered her protecting her in a layer of grey flakes she relaxed as a voice echoed in her head...

"There is darkness coming little one." A soft voice whispered. "You are the only one who can save them now... "

"Listen closely, four cats with a power destined to destroy must seek help and figure out who they can trust... And who they can't." Her eyes suddenly shone with starlight, and her meow was smooth, as if some other cat was using her tongue. "Ash and snow will cover the sun shading the eyes of the evil one, beware of the one who is not as she seems for she will be drawn in by the darkness. Remember that a stone as hard as diamond covered in the coolness of snow and the dagger sharp thorns of a sweet rose will fight to death to protect you. You are the only one that can save them now."

"Stop, wait who are you, why me?" Ashkit wailed. "Ask Sunwing little one, he will give you the answers that you seek. Go home, they will welcome you." The voice faded away slowly, but before it was gone it whispered some last words, "the night is silent and deadly, the moon is bright and strong, the night will consume the light of the moon of the only thing in the sky if you don't do something about it, Ashkit... A battle is coming, more scary then your darkest nightmares. Have faith though for the stars will shine brighter then the moon to save it from the darkness of the night."

Suddenly a large shape smashed into her, smothering her muzzle so she couldn't breath. Her eyes flew open and she shoved off the thing that was making her unable to breathe. "Get off" she growled. Stonekit squeaked as Ashkit shoved him off. "What are you doing?" She hissed, "you weren't waking up to play so I woke you up." Stonekit stared at her looking defensive, Ashkits lip was curling in the beginning of a snarl, as she hissed annoyedly.

She forced the fur on the back of her neck to lay flat, as she gathered her surroundings. "But it's the middle of the night" she whispered. Suddenly aware of the sleeping Shadepelt. "So?" Stonekit asked in a low growl. Ashkit sighed replaying the dream she had in her mind. Blood? Blood? Why blood? Bloodfang she tilted her head maybe. But the night the moon and the stars? I've got no clue.

Stonekit cut into her thoughts with a quick short sentence. "Are you thinking about Bloodstar?" He questioned. His playful mood evaporating like sun on frosty glass, his face nothing but concern. His gaze locked with hers his eyes blazing with anger, grief, sadness and something Ashkit couldn't read. "No" she lied quickly. He looked at her, suspicious she stared back and he looked away. "I'll never forget that night" he sighed, "do you think they'll believe us?" "We can't tell them!" Ashkit looked at him meeting his gaze. "Bloodfang is a dangerous cat, and has the support of his clanmates" Ashkit turned away, bringing herself to realise that it was her fault, before she could speak again she was plunged into a memory...

"Come on, it came from this way." Ashkit whispered, Stonekit nodded and followed her into the lush undergrowth....
"No, Crowstar!" Ashkit whimpered as Bloodfang ripped him from throat to tail, for the very last time.

"No.." Ashkit murmured, "what was that" Stonekit asked. Ashkit didn't respond, instead her claws dug into the earth her tail went limp and her eyes rolled back into her head, she collapsed and darkness swamped over her, before she lost consciousness she felt Shadepelt wake up beside her and shrieked "Brackenspot!!!!"

Ashkit woke to a starry world, she stared around, it was empty "this can't be Starclan" she muttered under her breath. "That it is little one" Ashkit's head snapped around, and saw the beautiful she cat with tabby golden brown fur and deep golden eyes, Ashkit gaped at the sight and choked out "why is it empty?" "That my love I cannot explain" Ashkit let out a deep sigh.

The she cat looked at her with questioning eyes "is everything alright?" She questioned, Ashkit looked at her with troubled eyes and instead meowed "why am I here" she asked her eyes clearing. The beautiful cat replied "you must return to Moonclan, they have the answers you seek. Goodbye little one" the fading she cat dipped her head and with here eyes filled with pride and deep love.

"Wait! What answers? How will I get there? I don't understand!" Ashkit yowled to thin air. She sighed and suddenly feeling very tired she lay down curled into a ball and let sleep wash over her but before she was sucked away into sleep she heard the voice one last time, "and if you look closely you will see you already have a traveling companion."
