Prologue - Charlotte Anderson's POV

"I'm sorry Miss Anderson, but your parents didn't make it."

I looked up at the fake blonde nurse with a blank stare. Everything around me melted away into the black hole of no existance. My mind disconnected from my body and I felt nothing. I was numb.

"Miss Anderson? Miss Anderson did you hear me?"

God that nurse's voice was annoying. My eyes lowered to stare straight ahead at the white plastered wall, not responding.

"Miss Anderson I know this is hard, but you've got to answer me. I need to know that you understand."

A spark of rage boiled in the pit of my stomach. This woman needed to get out. I hated her for the news she'd just delivered to me. I didn't want to see her face any longer.

"Miss Anderson,"

I lost it.

As soon as her hand came in contact with my arm my mind immediatley snapped awake and I'd jerked away from the horrid woman. Her face showed surprise and shock but I was too far gone to care. I snarled up at her, my upper lip curling, as I scooted off the bed. Once my feet touched the cold floor I straightened and squared my shoulders to her.

"Get out."

I didn't recognize my own voice. This voice was cold, menacing.

"Miss Anderson I think-"

"GET OUT!" I exploded. I couldn't even stand to look at her any longer. Every time I did I was reminded of the news she'd shared with me not five minutes ago. She'd shattered my life.

When I saw her hesitating by the side of my bed, my rage boiled over. It was like I had no control over anything my body was doing. I was completely someone else.

"Get the hell out of my room, bitch!" I screamed. When she stood there, shell shocked, I'd lunged across the bed at her. I bed knocked into the side table and sent my untouched tray of food and a few bottles of meds clattering to the floor.

The nurse lady backed away slowly, as if any sudden movements would set me off again. She was probably right.

"Linda, I need Dr. Bellwood in here now! We've got a code blue!" she screamed into a little speaker attatched to her jacket.

I felt my face morph into a sinister smirk as I slowly stood. The nurse's eyes widened as I straightened my back and stared her down. An almost anamalistic feeling over took my body as I bared my teeth. A low growl rumbled from my chest.

"You're going to regret that, bitch."

Hm, must be my new word.

My muslces tensed and I bent my knees in a crouched position. The nurse's eyes shown in fear and confusion. I didn't blame her. I was just as confused and scared as she was. This alien feeling took over my body as I sat back in the shadows, useless to anything.

Just as I was about to pounce, something in my mind snapped. My muscles went lax and I fell to the ground, heaving air. the vice grips that had been on my chest releasedme so suddenly that it sent my heart into overdrive.

I vaguely remembered the door slamming open and a bunch of people in white coats rushing in. They were all shouting and I felt hands gently ease me off the ground.

"Charlotte Anderson, can you hear me?" the soft, calm voice of the doctor was right in my ear. I tried to lift my heavy head but I could barley get it high enough to meet his eyes. He cursed softly and raised his head to yell at the others.

"She's seizuring. Get me a tranqulizer now!"

Almost immediatly after he finished, I felt my body start to shake violently. There was a prick in the side of my arm and the effect was almost immediate. My body slumped into the doctor's strong arms. Right before I fell into the dark pool of unconsiousness, I heard the doctor speak.

"Rest now little one. You've got a long road ahead of you."

I didn't have time to make sense of what he'd said because my eyes rolled back in my head and I slipped into a deep, dreamless sleep.
