Hey guys. This is my first story. Hope you'll like it. This is just the introductions and everything so I know it will be boring but please read on. I promise it will become better and interesting. This chapter is long but bear with me. Thanks.
It was a bright sunday morning. Perfect day. The sky was crystal clear. Everything was oh so perfe-
"old MacDonald had a farm
E-I-E-I-O
And on his farm he had a pi-"
"Shut up" i yelled covering my ears with my hands from the annoying voice. In case your wondering who this annoying voice belonged to- it belonged to my little 10 year old sister. She was very cute no doubt, but she had made it her mission to irritate and annoy me to the core. I tried to stay away from her because on nice occasions like this, she would always do something to ruin it.
Okay so now introduction's on me. My name is Roger Williams. Pretty common name i know. I'm twelve, love chocolate- pretty normal for kid's my age- and love football. My dream is to become a football player when i grow up. My family consists of an elder brother, younger sister(yeah the same annoying one) and my parents.
So let's get back to the story i was going to start. It was a perfect day. Me and my family were on our way to a huge bungalow- i like to call it a mansion- that we'd hired for a fortnight. Isn't that cool? It was on the outskirts of town. "How much more time?" whined my sister.
"Just a couple more minutes" came the reply from my father. "You've been saying that since half an hour now" I chimed in. "This time I'm sure honey" was the response. I huffed and leaned back in my seat and closed my eyes. I replayed a conversation in my head that promised me a separate room during our stay. It was a seven bedroom bungalow with a games room and a huge backyard with a large swimming pool.
"This is it. We are here. Just one more turn" my father said happily from the front. He turned left and a huge house came in our view. My sister gasped. "It's cool, isn't it?" my mother asked. "More than cool" my brother said, removing his earphones from his ear. "I can't wait to explore" my little sister said. I can never agree more.
The area was surrounded by trees making it seem like a mansion in the middle of the woods. We got down and unloaded our bags. We walked up the front steps my father in lead. He opened the door with a rusted key. We found out about this house online and booked it to stay. The door creaked open and a cool wind hit me. That's unusual seeing as this house was locked and everything, so how come a wind came from inside? Weird.
I and my sister coughed as we stepped inside. The place was sure dusty. We dragged our bags inside in the living room and left it there. "Okay kids assemble around me, i need to tell you some rules and then me and your father will show you to your rooms" said my mother in the bossy voice. Then she rambled on about how we should keep this place clean as it's not ours and the usual shit. Yup i swear more than an average 12 year old. I blame Greg(my older brother in case your wondering).
".... and i want you to help me clean up today, as we sure cannot live here in this dust" at this my ears perked up. "Mom we just got here after a long tiring journey. We don't want to clean up".
"The faster you clean up the better" my mom said in a final stern voice. I nodded my head and she beamed. Ugh.
"So Courtney your room first" my dad said. We got up from the sofa and proceeded towards the stairs. "Me and your mom will be here downstairs while you kids will be up on the first floor. Second floor is the terrace and I don't want you going up there alone. Our room will be the one next to the kitchen. Those other room downstairs will be kept as it is." Walked up the stairs. It was right in the middle of the living room. The violet carpet was so full of dust that dust came out of it every time we stepped on it. i coughed some more. I was a bit allergic.
We turned right where there was a huge vase and the walls were hung with portraits of people and towards the first door. We slid open the latch that kept the door closed and pushed it open. It was a huge, spacious room with a twin size bed and a huge cupboard. Pardon me as I say the word 'huge' one too many a times because everything about this room is huge. There was a door in the corner that I assumed led to a bathroom. "This is your room Courtney" my father said. Leave it to him for introductions and everything. I wonder how he knows so much about this house already. Seems like he's been here before. "It's awesome" my sister gushed. I huffed. I couldn't wait to see my room. I hope it's bigger than this so I can rub it in her face.
We then entered Greg's room that was the next room in tow. It was as huge as the last. "Since your the eldest we are giving you the room next to Courtney's so you can take care of her" my mom told Greg and he sighed. We all knew too well know annoying and stupid she could get. I inwardly was happy that i wasn't the one with my room next to Courtney but at the same time I was sad for Greg.
Next was my room. Same size with a twin bed and attached bathroom, but what made it different from the last two rooms was the enormous closet instead of a cupboard. "Your room Ro" my mother said as my siblings entered my room and my sister started jumping on my bed. "The left side of the staircase has rooms as well that will be as it is. The games room is down and the swimming pool in the backyard. Go explore while I make tea. Common, off you three. Have fun" she said enthusiastically.
We made our way down the stairs and into the living room where the main door was. We made way through a side door down a narrow passageway that was dark. My brother switched on the flashlight of his phone. The floor was stone and there were unlit lanterns hanging on the walls. Another small door on the right. We opened it. It took some strength as the door was rusted and stuck to the door frame. We entered and found the switches with the help of the flashlight that were right behind the door. We flicked it on but the light did not turn on. Quite understandable since this place was deserted for a long time.
"Turn on the lights!" my sister said.
"It's not turning on. Just have a look with the flashlight. I'll tell daddy to have it checked later" Greg said. He waved the flashlight in front of us. The room looked like a storeroom with some things covered in cloth and spider webs in each corner. "Looks like a storeroom" my brother voiced. "Let's go". As he turned, with the light on his phone illuminating the walls, I think I saw something written on the wall in red. I just waved it off.
We walked further down the stony passageway and came to a dead end. We turned and started for the door we came through from the living room.
A wide corridor from the living room led to the kitchen. Further down was a huge door with a huge lock. "Why is this room locked?" my sister asked. "No idea" Greg replied. We continued further down the corridor and found yet another door. We entered and saw a Pool table. A carrom board was in the corner. "Cool" I said. "we have something to play".
"Lets explore some more" my sister said.
"Later" me and my brother said together.
"Let's just see if Roger remembers how to play Pool" my brother said. "I worked so hard to make him learn" he said while wiping away imaginary sweat.
"Of course I remember" I said sticking my tongue out at him.
