AUTHOR POV
Sam stands in front of the body mirror fixing his black tie and swallowing past his nerves.
"This is it buddy! Your last chance to run away." Ross says to him as he claps his shoulders.
Chuckling, Sam shrugs off his brother's hands and turns to him.
"I'm not running away. I want this." He confirms.
Ross smiles and pulls Sam into a hug. "Congrats man. I'm happy you found someone you love and I hate to admit this, but I always sort of looked up to you, so maybe I'll find a girl who sweeps me off my feet."
Sam's eyes widen in surprise but he hugs him back nonetheless. "Really? Thanks bro."
The two men realize they are still caught in an amiable embrace, so they quickly pull away with Ross rubbing the back of his neck and Sam coughing into his elbow.
"Um...I'm gonna go check on the ladies." Ross says while backing up to the door.
Sam nods, and once Ross leaves the room, he smiles and shakes his head at himself for being so emotional today. There's a knock at his dressing room door again and this time Stacey and Adam come in.
"My little Sammie is getting married!" Stacey gushes with tears already in her eyes.
"Geez, Stac...can't you wait until the actual ceremony to cry?" Adam winces and Sam laughs at his parents.
"Oh shut up Adam! My son is getting hitched I can cry whenever I want!" Stacey defends herself.
Adam chuckles and rubs her arms, pulling her into a kiss. Sam smiles at them. He wanted to be like this with Carter. Happy. For many many years. Carter, the thought of her made his blood pump and his cōck harden. He wondered if she was putting on her makeup or taking pictures with the bridesmaids. He couldn't wait to see the love of his life in her wedding dress.
"Anyway, we just came to see if you were almost ready." Adam says.
"I'm all set I'm just waiting for the cue to go in the church."
Stacey shoos Adam away. "I want to be alone with my son for a few minutes."
Adam rolls his eyes and pats Sam on the back. "Don't let her cry on your tux."
Stacey glares at her husband as he exits the room and Sam chuckles while squeezing her hands. "What is it mom?"
"I'm so proud of you." Stacey whispers as her eyes fill with tears and her bottom lip wobbles.
"Oh, c'mon mom. Don't cry."
Sam couldn't take anymore emotional moments. First Ross, now his mother.
"You came from a terrible household and when I saw you I knew you were destined to be my boy. I'm so proud of everything you have accomplished. Your firms, your degree, your businesses, love, everything."
Sam sighs and holds his mom close as she spilled her heart out. Did events like weddings or funerals or holidays always make people this passionate? Still, he couldn't help the way his heart swelled at the things his mother was saying.
