When Jeonghan turned sixteen he declared that he would grow his hair out. By that time we were considered best friends, inseperable more like it, and I told him it was a stupid idea. He just pouted and refused to speak to me. His pouting drove me crazy, in a good way, that allowed him to always take advantage of me.

One pout and I'd be on my knees begging for forgiveness.

I hugged his shoulders and muttered several apologies until he turned around and smiled. Anyone walking past us on the school field would've mistaken us for a gay couple. I always wished we were a couple. Jeonghan was so perfect I just always wished he'd stay with me forever.

He explained to me that he wanted to grow his hair out in order to look pretty. I immediately exclaimed to him that he was already pretty but, Jeonghan shook his head and waved my compliment off.

He always did that. He hated when I called him beautiful or smart or perfect. He hated the word 'perfect' the most. He hated when not only me, but other people at school, called him perfect. I didn't understand why because everyone knew it was the truth. Everyone except Jeonghan.

He was always insecure when he had nothing to be ashamed of and he always brushed off compliments as though they were all fake and empty.

So after I admitted he was already pretty, I kept quiet and we sat in uncomfortable silence. It was so uncomfortable that I wanted to leave, but Jeonghan's slow and steady breathing kept me glued to the seat. Just knowing he was there next me was enough to keep me from walking away.

I hated leaving Jeonghan alone. It was this weird habit I developed after losing so many friends in the past. I was scared to lose another one, especially someone as wonderful as Jeonghan.

So I broke the silence by turning to him and telling him that growing his hair out seemed like a good idea. I knew he wasn't actually mad at me, but when that radiant smile crept up onto his pale face, I couldn't have been happier.
