Just before our lips met...
'Sam, I need you to come to the kitchen!' Jennifer beckoned.
Samuel took in a short breath and he jolted out of the trance.
I cursed under my breath. So close!
I removed my hands from his waist and let them hang over my side.
'Alright, I'm coming!' He bellowed.
He looked at me with sad eyes and said,' I'll be right back!'
And just before he walked off, I heard him whisper something in my ear.
'That was fun.' And with that he hurried into the kitchen.
I slumped down onto the sofa when I felt my butt sit on something and I sprang back up.
I looked behind, only to see that Jonathan had somehow staggered back onto the sofa while I was dancing. Well, it was much more comfortable than the bathtub for sure.
'I-I'm sorry! I didn't see you.' I apologised.
All of a sudden, he grabbed my arm and dragged me down to his eye level.
I stared into his eyes, heart still racing, but this time with fear.
His eyes were dark and serious.
'Did you really think you'd win him back that easily, kitty cat?' He asked whilst shaking his head.
'N-no. But I did hope! I mean... I was so close.' I totally forgot I was talking to a drunk, but who cares? Theresa was with Tremor, Jonathan was all the company I had.
'Close? Ha! You were no where near close.' He smirked.
He was right. Who was I kidding?
He must've seen me go all sad because he said,' Hey, cheer up. The dude is probably still trying to get over the break up! I heard you were the one that initiated it. Surely you knew why you couldn't be together.'
I took a sit next to Jonathan as I recalled the break up.
~FLASHBACK~
It was around the end of last year.
Samuel and I had been fighting over something.
I can't even remember what it is, all I know is that it was something really big and he was really upset about it, so we hadn't been speaking for 2 whole weeks.
During that period of time, Samuel's best friend, Clinton Bay, from Chicago was staying over at his place.
Clinton happened to be my friend since pre school, and he has sorta-kinda always had this huge crush on me.
Anyway, back to the break up...
It was a Tuesday night. It was cold.
I was at the Mockingbird Lounge drinking some cocktails to clear my head and think things through when suddenly Clinton appeared from nowhere and sat next to me.
'Having a hard time, eh? Yeah, Sam is pretty stubborn. I think he's being sorta harsh! Giving you the cold shoulder. Hey I was-'
I was not looking forward to him irritating me for the whole night so I cut him off.
'Look, I'm not in the best of moods right now, so what do you want from me?' I snarled.
I did not care that I was being mean. Heck! I just wanted to be left alone.
'Oh. I um... Wanted to make you happy. You know, cheer you up?'
I stared at him. You have got to be kidding me.
'Really? So, how's it working out for you buddy?' I asked sarcastically.
'Haven't tried.' He sighed. 'I know my plan will work, but will you try?'
I raised an eyebrow.
'Yeah, whatever. What would you have me do?'
Honestly, I was curious to know.
His cheeks flushed a steamy hot red. He opened his mouth to say it but shut it right away.
'Come on!' I pestered.
'Kiss me.'
My jaw dropped. And I leaned forward, hoping I had heard him wrongly.
'W-WHAAAAT?! K-kiss y-you..?'
'Yeah you heard me. On the lips.'
I shook my head in disbelief and fell back into my seat.
'You're crazy. You're mad. You're insane.'
He tilted his head to the side, looking confused.
'Yea, maybe. But you're craving for some attention. Sam has been ignoring you. I'm here. Kiss me.'
He had lost his mind. He looked at me with pleading eyes, he's insanity even made his eyes glisten at the thought of me.
'No! Never! Don't look at me, you've got a girl at home and everybody knows that. Hannah will be heartbroken!' I panicked.
'Hannah? Pfft. Don't you know why I'm here? I broke up with Hannah because I realised the only reason I dated her was to try to forget you. But it didn't help. So that's why I'm here. ' He laughed.
So all this time, the entire reason he was here was because of me.
'Oh.' that was all I managed to say.
'So? Are you going to kiss me?' He prodded.
Why not? I mean... Even though I was in a relationship with Samuel, we have not been speaking and I guess I did want some attention. And techinically we weren't talking so we weren't exactly together-together.
No, I can't. It's bad.
I looked at Clinton and realised that he wasn't bad looking. He played rugby, which gave him a macho look. He's green eyes were merzmerizing. And his hazelle hair was silky soft.
Besides it would just be one kiss.
'Uhm, I-I guess...'
'Then, what are you waiting for?' He smiled.
