(CHARLES RIVER - DAWN)
The Harvard Crew Team is practicing their rowing on the river. Most of the boats are equal except one boat far ahead of the others.
"Those guys are just freakin’ fast," says one of the rowers.
The far boat is being crewed by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, identical twins who not only row crew but are extremely smart. They know that the others aren’t in their class and even though they’re highly competitive athletes, they don’t like showing anyone up, least of all their teammates.
"Is there anyway to make this a fair fight?" Cameron says.
"We could jump out and swim," Tyler answers.
"I think we’d have to jump out and drown," Cameron says.
"Or you could row forward and I could row backward," Tyler says.
"We’re genetically the same, science says we’d stay in one place," Cameron answers.
"Row the damn boat," Tyler says.
And the Winklevoss twins kick into full gear and open up an even wider lead.
(PFORZHEIMER DINING HALL - MORNING)
The room’s a couple of hundred years old and magnificent. Long, heavy mahogany tables are dotted with club members having breakfast. A Porter in a white jacket is setting copies of The Crimson, Harvard’s student newspaper, at the table occupied by CAMERON and TYLER whose trays are loaded with mountains of eggs and pancakes and carbs. Divya Narendra, a nice looking Indian student, sits down next to them holding a copy of the Crimson.
"What’s up?" Cameron asks.
"You guys hear about this?" Divya asks back.
"What?" Cameron asks.
"Two nights ago a sophomore choked the network from a laptop at Kirkland," Divya tells them.
"Really?" Tyler asks.
"At 4AM," Divya says.
TYLER picks up a copy of the Crimson and begins reading while his brother and DIVYA keep talking.
"How?" Cameron asks.
"He set up a website where you vote on the hotness of female undergrads," Divya explains. He goes on, "What were we doing that none of us heard about this?" He asks.
"I don’t know, a three hour low-rate technical row before breakfast, a full course load, studying, another three hours in the tank and then studying, I don’t know how we missed it," Cameron says sarcastically. "How much activity was there on this thing that he.." Cameron starts to ask before Tyler interupts.
"22,000 page requests," Tyler says.
"22,000?!" Cameron asks shocked.
"Cam, this guy hacked the into facebooks of seven houses. He set up the whole website in one night and he did it while he was drunk," Tyler explains.
"22,000?" Cameron asks again.
"Yeah," Tyler answers.
"How do you know he was drunk?" Cameron asks.
"He was blogging simultaneously," Divya answers. "You know what I think?" he asks.
"I’m way ahead of you," Tyler says.
"This is our guy," Divya says.
(SECOND DEPOSITION ROOM - DAY)
It’s MARK and his lawyers again but this time on the other side of the table are Tyler, Cameron, Divya, and Gage, their lawyer.
We’ll be back and forth between the two deposition rooms a lot.
"Cameron Winklevoss, it's spelled W-I-N-K-L-E-V-O-S-S, and Cameron’s spelled the usual way." Cameron tells everyone for the reocords.
"Tyler Winklevoss, Tyler’s spelled the usual way and my last name is the same as my brother's," Tyler also tells everyone for the records.
(ADMINISTRATIVE HEARING ROOM - DAY)
Mark stands before a panel of Administrators as well as Cox, the systems manager who was woken up earlier in the story.
"Mr. Zuckerberg, this is an Administrative Board hearing. You’re being accused of intentionally breaching security, violating copyrights, violating individual privacy by creating the website, WWW.FACEMASH.COM. You’re also charged with being in violation of university policy on distribution of digitized images," one of the administrators says. He continues,"Before we begin with our questioning you’re allowed to make a statement," He says. "Would you like to do so?" he asks.
Mark stands to address the Board.
"I’ve already apologized in the Crimson to the ABHW, to Fuerza Latina and to any women at Harvard who might have been insulted as I take it that they were. As for any charges stemming from the breach of security, I believe I deserve some recognition from this Board," Mark states.
Mark takes his seat.
"I’m sorry?" the another administrator says.
"Yes," Mark answers.
"I don’t understand," the administrator says.
"Which part?" Mark asks.
"You deserve recognition," the adminisrator answers.
"I believe I pointed out some pretty gaping holes in your system," Mark says.
"Excuse me, may I?" Cox interupts.
"Yes," the administrator agrees.
"Mr. Zuckerberg, I’m in charge of security for all computers on the Harvard network and I can assure you of its sophistication," Cox says. "In fact it was that level of sophistication that led us to you in less than four hours," Cox tells him.
"Four hours?" Mark asks.
"Yes sir," Cox answers.
"That would be impressive except if you’d known what you were looking for you would have seen it written on my dorm room window," Mark says.
(CORRIDOR - DAY)
As the heavy wooden door from the hearing slams shut behind Mark, Eduardo is waiting for him.
"So?" Eduardo asks.
"Six months academic probation," Mark tells him.
They walk down the sidewalk.
"Wow, they had to make an example out of you," Eduardo says.
"They had my blog, I shouldn’t have written the thing about the farm animals, that was stupid," Mark says. He goes on, "I was kidding for God’s sake, doesn’t anybody have a sense of humor?" Mark asks.
"I tried to stop you," Eduardo says.
"I know," Mark says.
"How do you do this thing where you manage to get all girls to hate us?" Eduardo asks. " Why did I let you," Eduardo starts to say.
"I know," Mark interupts.
"You can’t do that," Eduardo says.
"Wardo," Mark interupts again. "I said i know," Mark says.
They both continue walking until they are out of sight.
