(PORCELAIN CLUB - DAY)
The most exclusive of all the final clubs. Divya is sitting in the main living room with a textbook open as the heavy wooden door opens and the three of them come into the bike room.
"Would you like a sandwich or something?" Cameron asks.
"Okay," Mark answers.
Cameron disappears for a moment.
"Mark, right?" Divya asks.
Mark is taking a glance around the room.
"Yeah," Mark answers.
"This is Divya Narendra, our partner," Tyler says.
"Hi," Mark says.
"We were really impressed with Facemash and then we checked you out and you also built CourseMatch," Divya says.
"I don’t know CourseMatch," Tyler says.
"You go online and see what courses your friends are taking," Divya answers.
"Really smart, man," Divya says to Mark.
Mark is looking at the framed black and white group pictures on the wall of old Porcellian classes.
"Mark?" Divya asks to get his attention.
"Yeah," Mark answers to show that he's still alive.
"We were talking about CourseMatch," Divya says.
Cameron comes back in with a sandwich wrapped in plastic.
Mark opens it on his lap and eats it uncomfortably.
"And you invented something in high school, right?" Divya asks.
"An app for an MP3 player that recognizes your taste in music," Mark tells him.
"Anybody try to buy it?" Divya asks.
"Microsoft," Mark again answers.
"How much?" Divya asks.
"I didn’t sell it. I uploaded it for free," Mark says.
"For free?" Divya asks confused.
"Yeah," Mark answers nonchalantly.
"Why?" Divya asks.
Mark gives a short shrug that says both “I don’t know” and “Fuck you” at the same time.
"Okay, well, We have something that we’ve been working on for a while, we think it’s great," Cameron says. He goes on, "It’s called the HarvardConnection. You create your own page. Interests, bio, friends, pics."
"And then people can go online, see your bio and request to be your--" Tyler says before Mark interupts.
"Yeah. How’s it different from MySpace or Friendster?" Mark asks.
"Harvard-dot-E-D-U," Tyler says.
"Harvard.edu. The most prestigious e-mail address in the country," Cameron says.
"And the whole site’s kinda based on the idea that girls--well..." Tyler says.
"Not to put anything indelicately," Cameron starts to say.
"Girls wanna get with guys who go to Harvard," Divya finishes.
"Divya and my brother don’t have trouble putting things indelicately," Cameron says.
"The difference between what we’re talking about and MySpace or Friendster or any of those other social networking site--" Tyler starts.
"--it's exclusive, Right?" Mark asks.
"Right," Divya answers.
"Yes," Tyler agrees.
"We’d love for you to work with us, Mark. I mean, we need a gifted programmer who’s creative," Cameron says.
"And we know you’ve taking it in the shins," Tyler says with his figure of speech.
"The women’s groups hate you and this could help rehabilitate your image," Divya says.
"Wow. You’d do that for me?" Mark asks, remembering what Erica said.
"We’d like to work with you," Tyler answers.
"Our first programmer graduated and went to work at Google. Our second programmer just got overwhelmed with school work," Cameron explained.
"We would need you to build the site and write the code and we’ll provide--" Tyler starts to say.
"I’m in," Mark says.
"Awesome," Tyler says with a smile.
(SECOND DEPOSITION ROOM - DAY)
Again it's the Winklevosses and Divya with their lawyer Gage.
"That’s what you said?" Gage asks Mark.
'It was three or four years ago, I don’t know what I said," Mark answers.
(FIRST DEPOSITION ROOM - DAY)
It's Eduardo with his lawyer Gretchen.
"When did you come to Eduardo?" Gretchen asks Mark.
"I don’t understand that question," Mark says.
(SECOND DEPOSITION ROOM - DAY)
"Do you remember answering in the affirmative?" Gage asks.
'The affirmative?" Mark asks confused.
(FIRST DEPOSITION ROOM - DAY)
"When did you come to Eduardo with the idea for Facebook," Gretchen asks.
"It was called TheFacebook then, " Mark corrects her.
(SECOND DEPOSITION ROOM - DAY)
"This doesn’t need to be that difficult," Gage says.
"I’m currently in the middle of two different lawsuits," Mark says.
"Did you answer affirmatively? When Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss and Divya Narendra asked you to build HarvardConnection, did you say yes?" Gage asks Mark.
"I said I’d help," Mark answers.
(FIRST DEPOSITION ROOM - DAY)
"When did you approach Mr. Saverin with the idea for TheFacebook?" Gretchin asks now with correct use of the word.
"I wouldn’t say I approached him," Mark says.
"Answer the question," Gretchen says.
"At a party at Alpha Epsilon Pi," Mark answers.
"What’s that?" Gretchen asks.
"The Jewish fraternity, It was Caribbean Night," Mark answers.
