"mama please let me go"

"mama, I'm old enough"

"mama I can do it"

"mama please?"

"darling, please just listen, listen once."

she carefully sits in her mothers lap.

her small face leans into her mothers shoulders,

her mother drags her hair into careful braids,

her bright golden hair,

all twisted up,

like the insides of her mother,

she doesn't want to let her go,

she doesn't want to give her up.

....

"mama I'm back"

"I told you I'd be okay"

"I told you I could do it"

"I told you I'd come back"

"I told you mama"

...

"mama?"

"mama where did you go?"

"mama why did you leave me?"

she sobs leaning quietly,

onto her mothers coffin,

her golden locks now down her back,

"I'm sorry mama"

"I should've never left"
