I was moments away from finding what I needed. My heart was pumping at an incredible rate, a frenzied smile upon my face.

Before I could enter the search, anticipation surging throughout my body, I was interrupted by a loud vibration.

"What the... Oh. Of course."

My phone. It was my mother. Oh how ironic this would happen right at the moment I was about to figure everything out.

I picked it up lazily and answered with zero enthusiasm. "Hello?"

"STOP THE SEARCH. STOP EVERYTHING YOU'RE DOING."

I nearly dropped the phone, heavily breathing. The voice on the other line was sickening. The phone was making awful noises as though there was a bad connection. I don't have time for this.

"Listen, I don't know who you are or why you came up as my mom, but I have no idea what you're talking about and I'm pretty sure you have the wrong number."

"Oh, Prism."

The rough voice replied in a teasing tone, small giggles sounding.

I was starting to get a little concerned. Who is this and... How does he know my name?

"Listen doll, but I suggest you stop trying to figure out things that aren't meant for you to stick your nose in. I have to admit, you're pretty bright, but stay out of this or someone gets hurt." The man said bluntly. He sounded like a teenager... I was trying to decipher everything that was going on, panic coursing through my body.

"What's it to you anyway? Why do I need to stop? I'm going to figure out this case, and you can't stop me."

He chuckled once again, taking in a deep breath.

"Fine. But you're not going to get anywhere. I killed the last person who tried to solve this case. It would be a shame if it happened to you... Or someone you love."

I was gritting my teeth, trying my best not to shatter the phone in my hand.

"Like you can do anything, you bastard. You're not touching me or my family, got it? Just try and stop me. This case is mine."

I came home to my mother lying on the floor, her eyes were pale, and she showed no signs of life at all. Something was seeping from her mouth.
