I came down the second set of stairs to enter into the kitchen. Joan was tossing a salad and humming to the tunes of the songs in her head. They were always some random hymnal songs but she never sang the words out clearly.
"Hey you!" She called out as I tried to sneak passed her. I turned around reluctantly, to see her stirring the contents in the huge bowl. "Why are you wearing those grimy clothes? There are five smoking hot ladies in there. You need to look your best."
"Joan," I pinched the bridge of my nose, "They are all straight. No matter how much I wish those girls in there were just a little gay, it would be hopeless. This isn't a fanfic."
"A fan what?"
"Nothing." I shook my head. "Just don't make it awkward, Joan."
"Okay." She smiled, going back to work on her bowl of lettuce and other vegetables.
I pushed the swinging door open to enter into the dining room that we never used. Well, not until now. When my Mom was here, we'd always eat together so it's kind of weird to be in here again after so long.
There was a seat in between Ally and Camila, which sadly was in front of Lauren, and I could tell she wasn't happy to see me.
I pulled my the high bun I had in to make it tighter before strolling over to my seat.
"Hey Y/N." Camila smiled, patting my shoulder. "I knew you'd come around."
"Yeah." I smirked, slightly flinching at her movements. I took my seat in between her and Ally who was seated on the other side.
Joan walked out to sit the plate down in front of me before nudging me softly and walking away. I shook my head and decided to pick up my fork and start plowing down the pasta in front of me. I honestly wanted to get out of that quietly awkward room as fast as possible.
"I'm Ally." The girl beside me held her hand out to me. The red nail polish was perfectly manicured on her hands.
I ate the food on my fork before wiping my mouth and turning to meet her hand after wiping them off as well. "Hi, I'm Y/N."
"I'm Dinah!" The girl with the blonde hair exclaimed from across the table.
"Hi there."
"I'm Normani!" She awkwardly waved but smiled towards me happily.
"Hello."
Dinah nudged Lauren in the side with her elbow, making the older girl whine out in pain. "Ow. What the fuck was that for?"
"Introduce yourself." Dinah whispered.
Lauren stabbed her noodles with her fork and glared down at the plate. "Why should I? She obviously knows us." Her voice was anything but 'sweet'. "I'm sure she even ships Camren."
I didn't feel like sitting in that room anymore. Especially since it was my own house and I felt uncomfortable. I picked up my plate and glass of water to walk out of the room and go towards the backyard.
I speed walked to the guest house in the back and hurried to get inside. I locked myself in and went to the spare kitchen to sit at the table by myself and eat dinner like usual.
