A young man flings himself out of his bed gasping desperately for air, nightmares have plagued his life for as long as he can remember, which admittedly isn't very long only about nine years, actually anything before then is a blur.

"Another sleepless night, another crappy morning" he walked over to the mirror in his personal bathroom that every dorm at Saint Augustine's school for wayward children have.

"I look like crap, as usual" he studied his own face his sunken eyes begged for the sleep that was stolen from them.

"Screw it" he said as he walked away from the mirror and threw on his school uniform haphazardly, walking out the door and down the empty hallway. The stamping of his feet echoed down the hallway.

"Alexander what are you doing out of your room at this hour of night!" the booming voice of a female drowned out Alexander's footsteps "Hello Ms. Olga how are you this morning?" Alexander called down the hall to the figure of a small frail woman, about 5'6 in stature with curly unkempt grey hair, she was wearing a yellow dress with a small baby blue jacket. "Mr. Cedron you know you are not allowed to be in the halls this early!" Alexander was now directly in front of the woman known as Ms. Olga.

"I'm just going for a walk, I couldn't sleep" his words came of angrier than he intended making him regret them as soon as they left his mouth.

"The only place you're walking is back to your room!" the smug look on her face was enough to make the calmest man want to punch a brick wall, it's as if she knew exactly how to push peoples buttons.

"Whatever" he said as he walked down the hall in the opposite direction, he'll just go out the back, what is she going to do give him detention? He already gets it every day anyways, it's usually not even his fault, so what if a screw comes lose and a chandelier falls, or if he accidentally sets his room on fire, a few slip ups every now and then shouldn't label him as a trouble maker should it? Nevertheless he slinked out the back door and out onto campus, the cold winter air stinging his lungs as he inhaled.

"the fun never stops here does it" he muttered to himself as he pulled out a carton of cigarettes that were extremely hard to get considering he wasn't eighteen and he was in a private school, he lit the cigarette and placed it in his mouth the smoke filling his lungs like a wood stove burning in his chest.

"Those things will kill you" said the sweetest voice Alexander had ever heard.

"Amanda what are you doing here?" Alexander's cheeks turned bright red as the beautiful girl approached him.

"Same as you I'm guessing, I couldn't sleep so I snuck out" her short black hair blew in the breeze as her gorgeous brown eyes looked through him like an x-ray

"So um did you want one?" Alexander asked as he held up a cigarette.

"I would love one" she said with an innocent smile on her face that could make you wonder why she was sent here in the first place. As she reached for the cigarette a tall figure turned the corner. "Hey you two what are you doing out at this hour?" Amanda grabbed Alexander by his arm and started running in the opposite direction. "Wait where are we going?" he exclaimed "somewhere awesome she said as they ducked and weaved through clusters of buildings till they arrived at an old abandoned classroom.

"Where are we? I've never seen this room before and I've been all over the place" the puzzled look on his face would probably be considered "cute" by Amanda if she wasn't so excited to show off her hiding spot. "This is where I go to relax, I think it used to be a religious study classroom but after a student died here it was sealed off, then I found it and started setting up shop, I have a mini-fridge that I stole from the teacher's lounge, a lamp from social studies, a TV from the student lounge and a DVD player from home" the huge grin on her face was eerie yet calming which is a rare combination. "This is just...wow, how did you get away with stealing all this, it's like your own little living room" the bewilderment on his face made Amanda burst into laughter "why do you think I'm here? Do you think I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?"
