Kiku's eyes fluttered open, his body stretching weakly in an attempt to stir the sleep away from his being.
He let out a soft yawn, sitting up slightly. His head hurt much less than before, and now that he could feel and think beyond the overwhelming pounding in his temples, Kiku was more than glad he had taken that nap.
The first face he saw after waking up was his best friend's, Alfred's bright smile and ocean blue eyes staring at him happily. "Keek's awake! How do you feel, bud?"
"Better, thank you, Alfred," Kiku smiled softly as the American sat next to him on his bed, laying a small package from his favourite book store on his lap.
"I got this for you in my way!" He smiled bright. Kiku's smile grew, holding the package carefully before opening it. He gasped, his eyes widening when they met his gift.
"The last volume! Thank you so much, Alfie! You didn't need to," He smiled, holding his arms out for a hug, something he knew Alfred would enjoy.
Just as predicted, the American squeed in glee and pulled Kiku into a tight hug, being careful not to hurt him.
Alfred grinned happily, proud of Kiku's happiness, and waved goodbye before walking out. "Enjoy your manga!"
Kiku smiled more and softly waved back, immediately getting comfortable for a reading session. "I will! Thank you!"
"Nothing to thank, pal!" The American walked out, clutching the brand new laptop he had to buy for Yao under his arm.
The second the room's door closed after Alfred, Kiku sat up and set his new manga on his lap, his legs bent up to make a nice support for his reading position; he settled himself to start reading, too excited to even notice the murmurs and disimulated chattering outside the room, a mix of Yao and Lien's voices.

Kiku's smile grew bigger as he read the last line of the last page, from the last volume of his all-time favorite manga, tears peaking out of his eyes.
'I'll always love you... No matter what... Nothing will ever change that...'
Ah, the joy of seeing your otp become canon.
Ever since he started reading that manga, he craved a love relationship like the one he imagined for those two characters'. And since he got into his relationship with Yao, he saw himself with his boyfriend whenever they would interact in the manga.
'I'll always love you...'
He wondered if it was true, if he would always be with Yao or if fate was going to destroy him.
'No matter what...'
No matter the lies? No matter if he had hid part of his own being, a part not even Kiku knew about himself, just to don't be hated? Would Yao forgive him such an egoistic act?
'Nothing will ever change that...'
...
Even if he wasn't longer the Kiku he had fallen in love with? Would Yao feel betrayed if Kiku told him the truth? If he had to go through another came out, not even knowing his sexuality anymore?
Each question turned into water, and they flowed free down Kiku's cheeks before he could even notice.
The manga reminded him of Yao and himself, but would their love be unconditional too?
After a few minutes, when he had calmed down, he wiped his puffy eyes and took his manga, getting up. He felt heavy on his ankles, whimpering slightly and having to sit back down before properly getting up.
