A/N: Just a heads-up, I will be switching between 1st and 3rd person in the chapters until I can decide which I prefer(or you guys can suggest). If the chapter is in someone else's perspective, it will clearly say so.

The White's Chapel Orphanage, Southlake, Texas.

Kodie stared at the building in front of her and looked back at the address. The building was a simple, four story building, the walls covered in fresh, white paint, glaring with the noon sun. It wasn't the building itself that disturbed her, it was the condition. It wasn't bad or rundown like the orphanages that she'd gone to before. Well, that was the problem actually. It was too nice. Kodie preferred the old types of orphanages, the ones with rooms long since forgotten and few kids. A place where she could have it to herself. Her handler said that she needed to "interact and be normal." Kodie knew she was many things, but normal was not one of them.

She readjusted her backpack and stepped up the stairs to the door. She rapped her knuckles against the door, which was answered almost instantly by a young woman. Also out of the ordinary for Kodie. She was always greeted at an orphanage by an elderly person, someone who had spent many years at the place. The woman must have recognized the look of surprise on her face.

"I know, I know," the woman said with a heavy Texan accent. " I look too young to be here right?" Elise just nodded her head.

"You must be new around here right? Sorry, but do you mind telling me your name? I have a lot of new kids coming in today, so I'm a little hectic."

"It's Kodie."

"Thanks. Well, I'm Mrs. Meyers and I can have-"

She was interrupted by a loud banging noise and the sound of kids yelling. Mrs. Meyers whirled around and stomped off to investigate. Kodie followed, shutting the door behind her quietly. She was lead into a large kitchen area, large enough to hold at least 40 kids. There was a large group of kids were gathered around something. Elise pushed her way pass the crowd and furious woman. In the center, there were two kids, one with a bloody nose and one with bloody hands. But they were both smiling. And they looked like twins.

"What do y'all think you are doing?!?" Mrs. Meyers had gone from a maternal figure to one of complete rage.

"Sorry Mrs. Meyers," the two boys said simultaneously. The one with the bloody nose got to his feet and shooed away the crowd. The kids dispersed and left the room, leaving only the boys, Mrs. Meyers, and Kodie.

"I leave you alone for two minutes and you start punching each other for fun. I swear, if I wasn't here to watch you two, you would jump off a roof and see if you could burst into flames. Both of you are banned from the game room for five months."

"But he-"

"Shut."

"I didn't-"

"Up. Tyson, go wash your face. Tyler, go show Kodie to her room. I'll talk to you two more later." Mrs. Meyers stormed out of the room, followed by a grumbling Tyson, with blood still dripping down his face.

Tyler turned toward Kodie, still smiling like an idiot. "Well. That was interesting," he said

Elise could finally get a good look at one of the twins now. Tyler was a skinny but lean muscled kid, wearing a T-shirt that was a size too large and cargo shorts. His ash-blond hair was a mess, covering his ears and almost reaching his eyes. He looked like he spent a lot of the time outside, judging by his sunburned skin and squinted, muddy green eyes.

"Anyways, come on. I'll show you around."

He scurried out of the room, Kodie keeping stride. Outside was a long hallway with doors on either side. Kodie looked into one and saw an assortment of computers, TVs, game consoles, and beanbags. She guessed that this was the game room the twins were now banned from. It was filled with about half of the kids from the fight scene, fighting over the computers and playing video games. Much too loud here. She followed Tyler into another room, this one lined with shelves of dusty books and tables with wooden chairs. Unlike the game room, this room was empty and appeared to have been for a long time.
