"Truth be told; I don't think of you as my mother at times. I usually think of you as my other sister, my best friend. Even though I usually remind you of your age, you will always be the same to me, no matter how many years have passed. Though I would still remind you how old you really still are, just like old times."

"Elly."
"Yes, mom?" Elly replied absentmindedly, so absorbed in the book she's reading that she doesn't even spare a glance towards her mother.
"Elly, look at me." Elizabeth suddenly said, a warning in her voice, at this, Elly then placed the book down, turned in the direction of her mother and raised an eyebrow towards her.
"Your father told me that." Her mother inhaled deeply. "I am getting really older now."
"Geez." Elly grumbled. "It's pretty obvious, mom. I mean, you are having white hair all over your head; you are also starting to have these wrinkly frowns on your face, not to mention you now walk like a duck. A really slow one."
"What!?"
"Hey!" her daughter raised both her palms up in surrender. "That last one came from dad!"
"Oh! Now he's done it," Elizabeth said as she started to stomp outside where her husband is. "I'll show him who's walking like a duck!"
She stopped on her tracks when she heard her daughter suddenly shouted her name with a bark of laughter behind her. She slowly turned and raised her eyebrow towards her daughter. "Find something funny, Elly?"
"Really, mom." Elly said as she stood and walk towards her mother. She then engulfed her in a big hug adding a bit of a squeeze to it. "You are so easy to ruse."
"But.." Her mother protested but is slowly calming down and started to hug her daughter in return. "I can't help it. All three of you kept on telling me how old I am."
"Well... It is true" Her mother started protesting. "But! Remember this, mom. No matter how old and wrinkly you now look, we would still love you all the same. Okay? Now give me another hug."
"Okay, Elly." Elizabeth sighed and embraced her daughter. While the latter gave her father, who saw what was happening inside the house, a thumbs-up and an okay sign. She saw him also sigh and winked in return.
"Works every time."
