More Than Friends

Chapter 4 A New Life

2 years later...

Julie's P.O.V.

It has been two years since Liam moved away.

After he did, we texted each other non-stop for the first two months, and then we started growing apart. That was what I feared most about him moving away. That we would grow apart.

I know that he is doing well in Iowa and that he met new friends and joined the soccer team, but not one day goes by that I don't think of him or the times we shared.

I look around my room and stare at the large cardboard boxes that say;

Julie's Needs For College

Starting tomorrow, I will be attending Arizona State University.

I've always been excited to go to college and was always thinking about the future, but it was all going by so fast. I wasn't sure if I was ready for it yet.

As my parents and I start loading the boxes into our car, my mom gives me a smile when she sees my sad and nervous state.

I can already see her eyes tearing as she says,"Don't worry about it, Julie. We know you'll do great at ASU. We couldn't be prouder of you." She finds me a light, struggled smile and puts her hand around my hair.

I can feel my eyes start to water and I can feel the stinging, burning sensation of my throat as I try to hold back.

"I know, Mom. It's just that I'm going to miss you guys so much," I say as I choke back tears.

"We're going to miss you too. You're our whole world. But we know how important your future is and were willing to let you go in order to achieve at it."

I smile slightly and say,"Thanks Mom."

She hugs me and together, we all go in the car to the airport.

When we arrive at the airport, we unload the boxes and suitcases and load them up to the conveyor belt. After that, I turn to my parents. They've got teary eyes and I can tell they're trying to hold back the tears. I am, too.

My dad walks up to me and enwraps me in a tight hug. He kisses my head and says in a trembling voice,"I love you so much. We're so proud of you."

" Thanks Dad. I love you so much too."

My mom then comes up to me and embraces me in another tight hug. She kisses my head as well and says, "We love you so much, and we couldn't be prouder of you. It seems like yesterday you were learning how to walk, and now you're going to college. You've grown into such a beautiful, confident young woman."

As soon as she says that, I start to cry, but my dad comes in and they both embrace me in a warm, tight hug. I feel better and after a few minutes of holding on to each other, they finally release.

"We're going to miss you so much, but we know you'll do great," they say as they wipe tears from their glistening eyes.

"I'm going to miss you guys so much too," I say as I do the same. "But I'll call and text everyday."

" You better!" my dad says, and I giggle. They pull me in for one more quick before I start to walk to the long entry line. I wave goodbye and they wave back, big smiles on their faces.

I smile widely before turning back and getting ready to start my new life.

After the 3 hour flight (the pilot said it was 3 hours, but it felt like forever), I get my boxes and suitcases and head out the airport. I wait a few minutes for my aunt to pick me up, since she lives in Arizona. She also does not live too far away from the university, so I'll be seeing her pretty often.

When I finally see her pull up to the airport, she gives me a tight hug and I hug her back, saying, "Hi auntie Lily."

She then says,"Hi. You've grown so much since I've last seen you. You're so beautiful."

I smile and say, "Thanks auntie Lily."

"Of course. I never lie. I've missed you so much."

"I've missed you so much too. I'm just really happy and excited to be here."

"I still can't believe you're going to be a college girl!" she says enthusiastically.

"Yeah," I say.

"Don't worry about it. You'll do great, I know you will," she says when she notices the slightly concerned look on my face.

"Thanks," I say again as we share another hug before going into the car and driving to ASU.

When we get there, I turn to auntie Lily before giving her another hug. She kisses me and says,"Good luck, sweetie. I know you'll do great."

We unload the boxes and suitcases and after getting my dorm number, we carry them inside the building before saying and waving to each other. I go to my dorm room and put all my things inside.

The minute I look up after putting all my stuff down, I see a girl with long, wavy black hair standing in the other side of the room, unpacking her belongings.

I say,"Hey!" and she turns around, looking a bit startled but smiles slightly as she kindly says,"Hey!" back.

I ask her what her name is and what she's doing here, and she says that her name is Isabelle (or Izzy for short) and that this is her dorm. I tell her my name and that I'm in this dorm too. She smiles and says,"Really? That's so cool. We're going to be great friends."

I laugh slightly and smile. "Yeah."

We end up talking for about an hour. We share a lot in common. For example, we both love watching YouTube and lots of movies. We both love The Fault in Our Stars and The Hunger Games, and we can't choose between Peeta and Gale. We also love dogs and reading romantic stories.

We don't realize that we've been talking for an hour until I check the time on my phone, and it reads 3:54.

I tell Izzy the time and together, we decide to get out of our dorm room and walk around the building.

When we leave our room, we walk down the hallway and continue to talk and laugh. As we continue walking down the hallway, I see two guys walking on the other side of the hallway going in the opposite direction. One of them has blond hair and bright blue eyes, and the other one has brown hair and eyes. The one with brown hair looks distinctly familiar. Then I realize that it's someone I would've never thought I'd see here;

Liam.

I look at him and exclaim,"Liam!"

I run up to him and wrap my arms around his neck, hugging him closely.

"I've missed you so much!"

"Wait, who are you?"
