Julie's P.O.V.

I stare at the text to see if it is what I think it was, then look out my bedroom window to see Liam standing on my front lawn, noticing me and waving his arms around. I smile slightly and giggle, but am also startled and confused about why he is on my front lawn at 8 in the morning.

I quickly put on my shoes, not even bothering to change out of my pajamas or look in the mirror, and quickly run down the stairs and out the front door, careful not to wake my parents up.

When I see Liam, he says, "Hey Julie. Nice bed head."

I chuckle a bit before saying, "Thanks, and hey. What are you doing here?"

"I just came to see my best friend in the whole world," he says with a smile on his face.

I blush slightly at his response, hopeful that it didn't show, and say, "Aww, thanks. But would you care to tell me why you came to my house at 8:05 in the morning!"

Liam smiles slightly and says, "Okay. Do you wanna sit down?" he asks before nodding his head toward the small step beneath our front door.

"Sure," I say before sitting down next to him. "So what did you want to talk about?"

He looks at me hesitantly and with a light sigh, says, "Well, you know how our family is struggling because we don't have enough money?" I nod my head. I knew that his father didn't have the best job, and that his boss was very strict and always gave him a low paycheck with only about 40 dollars each day. He was a hard worker and he still only got paid that much.

Liam continues, "Yeah, well he always said that if he wasn't able to make enough money to pay off our house, then we would move to Iowa." I am afraid of where this is going. My heart is beating out of my chest from nervousness and I could feel myself getting pale. I really hope this isn't going to where I think it is going. The thought of losing Liam is too much to bear. We have been best friends since 4th grade, and if he moves away, it could ruin our friendship. I just don't want Liam to forget about me. Just thinking about it makes my eyes start to fill with tears. I don't want him to go.

"And?" I ask nervously, the question containing a small squeak that I didn't even realize had escaped my trembling lips.

Liam sighs again, this time with a look of total gloom and sadness all over his face.

He takes a deep breath before slowly saying the most horrific words I've ever heard:

"Julie, I'm moving to Iowa."
