The New World

Chapter 3

     I sat down in the cold rock floor and Chase ventured further down the cave.
"Be careful!" Alleigh called after him.
"Don't get yourself lost!"

Chase nodded and sped down the cave tunnel.

A little later, he came running back, gasping for breath.
"Guys," he said in between breaths,
"You have to see this!"
Jake glanced at me and I shrugged.

Chase led us down the cave, twisting and turning so much that I lost all sense of direction.
How did Chase find his way out of here? I wondered. This is so confusing!

I opened my mouth to ask the question out loud, when a dim light started to show from around the corner.
"What is that?"
I ask.

Chase just smiles and leads us around the corner.

I gasp when I see it.
A giant crystal sat in the cavern, and I'm not talking about a large Quartz. It's crystal clear, and even though there is no light striking it, it glows white. Mushrooms litter the ground, glowing blue.

"Oh my god." Jake whispers, his eyes wide. Alleigh has her mouth wide open.
Chase's blue eyes reflect the light of the crystal, shining like the moon, and his blonde hair is bleached white.

Alleigh's blue eyes also shine like a star, her hair shining silver.
Jake's brown eyes shimmer, and even his dark hair is illuminated by the shining Crystal.

My amber eyes shine like fire, the red streaks in my waist length hair bleached white. My brown hair is brightened, and my eyes sparkle with curiosity.

Chase's voice echoes through the cave, startling me.

"I dare you to touch it."
