Part 9:
Jan's POV continues:
A short time later. We arrived at the ice cream store.
"Jan we're here! It's up two stores to the right...." She squeals in excitement.
"Where?" I say.
"Right there!" She pointed and and smiled.
"Jesse, this is the place?" I questioned.
"Yes Jan, that's it! Roberto and I came here all the time when he came to Dres Van, most of the time when Joshua was too busy....."Her voice trails off, with a bit of sadness.
"Well, I wonder what made this place so great?" I say to change the subject. That was the first time she ever said his name in front of me. She never asked how he's doing or anything. What's going on with her? She begin to speak, and that's brought me out of my thoughts.
"Oooh yeah, you don't know? They make their own Ice Cream here!" She stressed happily.
"They do?" I asked.
"Yes they do!" She replied.
"We ate so much ice cream here! Roberto loves this place. But he never looked at the name or how to get here." She claims.
I look up at the store sign, "Sericeus, lenis cremor ad linguam?"
I turned to Jessie with a confused look on my face.
"Oh it's Latin for, Silky Smooth Cream to the Tongue, that's what: Sericeus, lenis cremor ad linguam means..." She says so sweetly. I could have her speak Latin to me all day, especially at night. "Wait, Jan stop those thoughts she still loves him, and he loves her. Wait just stop now!" I fight in my mind.
"Sericeus, lenis cremor ad linguam.." I repeat the store's name as I commit it to memory. Repeating, Sericeus, lenis cremor ad linguam until I have it memorized.
"Yes, Sericeus, lenis cremor ad linguam! Silky Smooth Cream to the tongue!" She says again.
I smiled and nodded, "This interesting to me, it's so small. Are you sure this is the place?" I questioned.
"Yes, let's go in." She motioned.
"Jessie, really? I never would've thought Roberto would come here?" I said.
"Yes, and he has, and it is his favorite place! He has a favorite cream too. And that is Butterbrickled peppermint sloths......" She stated proudly.
"Really, that's a weird name? There are sloths in it? I can't or how is it possible that I didn't know this? I make it my duty to know everything pertaining to the Royals. So that I can serve them better." I say.
"Jan! Don't worry about it! And no there are no Sloths! And sloths means how they process it. Sloth are slow. So that's how the speed of the churning. You get it? And I think the name is cool....." She explains it to me. Wow I didn't think ice cream was rocket science.....
But there is something I wanted to say. But it got stuck in my throat. "I-I I......" I started to say but She cuts me off.
"Trust me! I wouldn't steer you wrong. Jan... You should also get chocolate Chip peanut butter Oreo pie ice cream flavor too... And also he loves that one too he will be so-so surprise that you brought this back....." She beamed.
"When I think of it, it's a cool name. Okay I will show you that I trust you." I say.
"Hmm, if you want to trust me?" She looked at me.
"Yes, this time I'll make the deal..." I say.
"Okay, Jan I'm listening..." She said.
"If he doesn't like these choices and if you're wrong, I'm going to call you Miss Jessica from now on. Now thats the deal.?" I stated.
She ferrowed her brows and clinched her jaw, and crossed her arms. "Okay Jan, but what do I get if I'm right?" She whispered.
"Uh, umm..... What do you want?" I feared to say.
"All Right Now!!" She said clapping her hands together and rubbing them with a evil smirk on her face. Right then I had a pain in the pit of my stomach. She is going to take me out of my comfort zone.
"Is this going to be bad?" I say softly.
"Yes! Most definitely!" She grinned.
"But the rules. You have to be honest about the results. And I want to hear what he says when you give him the ice cream." She say.
"How?" I say.
"Duh call me and I will put my phone on mute. Then I can here." She says.
"You don't trust me?" I hissed.
"That's not it, you want to go back to the old ways, but I don't want too. I like this friendship. So that's why, I say this."
"Really? How did you know?" I asked.
"I know this is a bit over the top. But you have been a part of my life for 5 years. I already lost Joshua and I don't want to loose you too." Tears start to fall down her cheeks. As she tells me the truth.
"Fine...." I submit to her terms. I wipe her tears....
"Yay!!! Ya-yeah! Thanks...." She smiled.
"Now, if I win, you have to take out my assistant manager, Laney, out on a date......" She says.
"What!?" I say.
"Yes! That's the deal!" She state.
"B-But! Why!?" I stuttered the answer.
"Because she likes you!" She states a matter of factly.
"Really? I didn't know..." I thought she was very pretty and nice. But I didn't think she liked me back.
"Okay I guess I can agree to your terms." I said.
"Okay, good. Now that that is settled we can get some, Sericeus, lenis cremor ad linguam!!" She licks her lips.
"Okay, yes......" I say excitedly.
Let's go to the ice cream freezer. Oh they also make a great milkshake here!" She motion to me.
I thought to my self that a ice cold milkshake would hit the spot as I follow her to the freezer to pick out the cream the she's just suggested for me to buy.. She bought her 4 difference pints of ice cream opposed to my 8 different pints of ice cream. She also bought two small cones of ice cream, one whole maple walnut for me, and she bought hers oatmeal Oreo chocolate chip.
She said. "This will be refreshing for us. This ice cream after lunch." She said.
so I inspected the ice cream cone, before I took a lick of it. "Hmmm! This unbelievably good this is!!!"
"I knew you would love it! See things are not always what it seams....." She chuckled.
We gathered our purchases and we left the Sericeus, lenis cremor ad linguam. We commenced to walk across the street to the park.
We sat on a bench and under a tall oak tree. Eating our ice cream cones. We talked some more, for about 30 minutes. Time has passed so quickly.
I suggested to Jessie that I will take her home and I will go to the palace. She excepted my offer.
I stand up and put my trash in the bin. We leave the park it takes a few minutes to walk to my car.
I dropped her off at the flower shop. She gets out and took her bags and walked toward the flower shop. She waved goodbye and I left to go to the palace.
