"Oh Kerri, dear, there you are! Harry told us you had gone home but-" She stops suddenly and I see her eyes linger on George's hand around my waist. "Oh my." She whispers quietly. "Well, I have to go check on your father, if you'd excuse me." She says in a fluster as she makes her way towards the stairs.
"But Mum, the clock says he's at work?" George states and he looks curiously at his mother. I look at the magical clock the Weasleys have in their sitting room and see that George is right. The clock says that Mr. Weasley is still at work. She pauses and turns to look at George, Ron, and I. "Yes, well i suppose that's true. Although I still really must..." She begins muttering to herself and turns away and hurrys up the rest of the stairs.
"You lot are idiots." Ron says walking over to a pile of rolls that are sitting out on the counter. He picks one up and examines it as George raises an eyebrow at him. "Ron, just because you're jealous that Kerri's all mine doesn't mean you have to go around calling us names." Ron drops the roll and turns around to look at the two of us. He has a look on his face that i've never seen before, it scares me and I immediatly have the urge to hide behind George. "Believe me, i'm not jealous." With that he turns around and heads up the stairs, as his mother had done just minutes earlier.
"He's a liar." George says laughing and wrapping his arms around me. "He's beyond jealous because you are all mine." i try and give a small smile, but something just feels off to me. Whether it's the fact that the man hugging me looks exactly like the only man i've ever loved, but isn't actually him, or the fact that the look Ron gave me was unlike anything i'd ever seen before. I decide that it's both. "Kerri, come on." George says looking all serious. "He's a git, don't take it personally. He does stuff like that all the time, he's moody. Like a PMSing girl!"
Be happy, I tell myself. Just be happy. "Yeah, you're right. He's just being Ron!" I give it the best laugh I can, and I must have done pretty well because George seems to believe me and drops the subject.
"I'm going to go upstairs, i'm feeling a little..." I try and quickly think of a reason i'd have to go upstairs, but unable to come up with one I just put my hand on my stomach and George nods his head and gives me a quick peck on top of my head.
"See you later love."
I begin walking up the stairs passing each level of the burrow not exactly sure why I wanted to escape from George so suddenly, why did I feel like something was off? As I pass Mr. and Mrs. Weasley's bedroom I see the door cracked open and hear voices coming from inside. Knowing that Mr. Weasley is not yet home from work i figure it must be Ron, after all he is the only other one in the house right now.
"It's just so hard." I hear a sob come escape from the room. Out of curiosity I move a little closer to the door, and the next thing I know i'm right outside of it peeking through the crack watching Ron give his mum a hug.
"Of course it's going to be hard, for all of us, he was family." Ron says to his mum as i run my hands through my hair and bite my lip in attempt to keep myself calm. It's hard.
"It's just so much worse seeing her with George. It's not right!"
"I agree mum, believe me. They couldn't be any more wrong for each other."
