Laura sighed as she shut her apartment door, looking twice like she always did. This was the day. The day Bucky left her,  and everything was reminding her of him. She sat on her couch, hiding her face in her hands. It did not stop the memories from flooding back into her mind.

"It's going to be alright, sweetheart, it's just war," Bucky whispered into her ear. She rolled her eyes. That did not help her feel reinsured. "Really, love. I'll be back before you know it." He gave her one of his famous smiles, making the lines by his blue eyes crinkle.

"You better," she said. "And in one piece too, or I'll never forgive you." Bucky smiled softly, brushing some of her short, brown hair out of her face. He brought his lips to her softly. Their lips fit together like the  perfect pieces of a puzzle. Soon  Bucky pulled away, knowing the longer the kiss would go on, the longer he'd want to stay.  Laura looked up at him with tears in her eyes, but instead of begging for him to stay or crying into his chest she straightened his uniform.

"You have somewhere to be solider," she choked out. He smiled softly.

"I'll see you soon love," he whispered. He then turned and walked out her front door.

He never came home.

Laura let out a shaky breath. About fifty years later thanks to a curse of powers, she still had him in her mind. She still felt his kisses linger on her lips. She still had nightmares about ways he could have died.

She did find ways to distract herself. She worked at SHIELD with the legendary Peggy Carter, and  every time HYDRA reared one of their thousands of heads, she was there to cut it down. But this time it was different. HYDRA was deep in SHEILD, so deep that both organizations had to basically restart. Now Laura worked under Phil Coulson, gathering information in HYDRA's rate.

Laura heard an almost inaudible thump on the floor above her. The twist in her gut that always warned her of danger appeared, and she reached for her pistol in her holster. Whatever was there would have a hard time taking her out. Her powers that made her a very powerful asset and very dangerous person. She had been born with a small healing factor that let her heal at a rate faster than a normal human.

She headed to her door to crack it open an examine the hallway, but then a metal arm smashed through the door. Laura jumped backs quickly as a black-clad man tore into her apartment. She studied him. He was clearly an assassin.  His suit was covered from head to two in different weapons. He wore a mask over his mouth and goggles over his eyes, making any facial features unrecognizable.  He charged at her quickly.

Laura back-stepped, seeing the had drawn a knife. She barely made the dodge, and the knife cut a swallow cut in her side. She growled and shot at the man. He grunted at the impact of the bullets hitting against his armor, but was otherwise unhurt. He twisted her arm making her drop the gun before slashing at her throat with the knife. She cried out as it slashed, and she fell to the ground. The assassin smirked behind his mask. That was easily than he thought.

The man leaned in to confirm her death, but the girl's brown eyes shot open. She grabbed his arm and flipped him over to where she was straddling his chest. The gash on her throat slowly stopped bleeding. He grabbed her hard with his metal arm, and Laura almost winced at the impact. Instead of shying away, she hit as his face with full force, enough to knock his goggles off. Familiar blue eyes stared at her. Her eyebrows furrowed, but she was sent off his chest and into the nearest wall. The man stood, throwing off the mask over his mouth. She focused on him and gasped.

"B-Buck?" she asked.  He furrowed his eyebrow.

"Who?" he asked, drawing a gun. "Let's see if you can heal a shot to the brain? Hm."  It couldn't be, she thought. There was no way. After she got over the shock of the man standing in front of her, she realized that a gun was pointed at her head.

"Bucky don't do this," she tried to reason.

"Who the hell is Bucky?" he asked. His voice was a dangerous calm, but he faltered. Laura took the chance and lunged. The gun went off but missed her head and hit her shoulder. She cried out but grabbed the gun, twisting it out of the assassin's hands. With one fluid move, she turned and hit him in the temple with the gun. He stumbled and she did it once more. He fell then, looking up at her with ocean blue eyes.

"Sorry Buck," she said before hitting him in the temple a final time, knocking the man out cold. She sighed and shook her head. Laura had so many questions. "What am I going to do with you?" She wondered aloud.
