The taxi pulls up outside Adam and Ross's house twenty minutes later; I pay the driver as Jess grabbed her tricycle out of the boot.
You could hear the faint sound of music coming from their house but it wasn't blasting out thankfully. The last thing they needed was the police turning up for public disturbance.
We walked up the driveway and knocked on the door, well I walked, Jess rode her little bike. No one answered so I tried the door but it was locked, so I knocked again. Some girl I didn't recognise answered the door and looked us up and down. And to be fair, I did the same back to her. She was beautiful, with short black hair and sky blue eyes. Much taller than I was with a curvy frame in all the right places. And dressed as Betty Boop.
"Yeah?" she says eyeing us still.
"We're here for the wedding." I say sarcastically and she looks at us confused.
"I think you've got the wrong address." She says and goes to close the door.
"She was being sarcastic, we're here for the Halloween party...obviously." Jess says rolling her eyes at this girl.
"Well, do you have your invite?" she asks and I shake my head.
"No, why would we?"
"No invite, no entry." She says crossing her arms and looking at us smugly.
"Adam invited us, just go ask him. Who even are you anyway?" I ask frustrated. Majority of normal people who answer other people's doors just let the guests in, not give them the third degree.
"I'm Adam's girlfriend, who are you?" she replies bluntly.
Girlfriend...
No way!
"I'm his classmate. And he doesn't have a girlfriend." I say back just as bluntly.
"He does, we just got back together."
"I don't believe you, he would have told me."
"I doubt he tells you everything hunni."
Hunni...patronising bitch!
"He tells me enough."
"Obviously not." She says smirking at me. "We broke up when he left the university we were both at. Then recently got back in touch with each other and when I turned up today with a friend, we reunited. So if you think you and him had anything going on at all...it's over. He's back with me."
"We don't have anything going on at all, rest assured. You's can do what you want together, none of my business." I reply whilst gritting my teeth. I was doing anything I could right now not to cry in front of this bitch.
"Anyway you going to let us in, it's freezing out here." Jess says stepping off her bike.
"Like I said, no invite, no entry. Sorry, they're Adam's rules not mine." She says closing the door on us.
"What a fucking cow." Jess says turning to me and I sigh defeated.
"That's putting it mildly."
"I so want to smack that stupid smirk off her face." She says knocking on the door again. Shockingly, no one answered.
"Let's just head into town, I can't be bothered with this party anymore." I say quietly before turning to head back down the driveway.
"What? No way. We're going into that party."
"Jess let's just go."
"But we've been invited her. Let's stay."
"I don't really fancy staying anymore, and I don't want to walk in there and see Adam all over that smug bitch, especially after how he was with me today."
