The three's embrace lasted for as long as it took for all of the students to evacuate the hall way; and even then they held each other close. They finally separated when the bell that warned them of the oncoming day sounded, but Jack never let go of Sara's hand; and Jasper always kept a light grip on her shoulder.
Sara-Beth prepared for the worst as the trio walk quietly down the. She shrunk back against Jasper, but he pushed her on encouragingly. To her great surprise, many of the students ignored her; Some actually went as far as to be kind to her. Some would smile, others would wave and say hi; one girl came over to her with her younger sister, and hugged her. It was a nice change of atmosphere; but she knew it wouldn't last.
It had been over 6 weeks since Sara had been to the large school. The hallways and classrooms seemed foreign in a sense. She knew were everything was; but it just seemed like a lot of the memories were gone. It gave her an empty feeling, like she was just a ghost wandering the halls.
She had trouble getting her locker unlocked, so she was late to class. She ducked her head down trying to avoid the semi-strange stares of her fellow pupils as she entered the class room. She sat down in her regular homeroom seat as the Guidance Counselor came onto the loud speaker. While she was in the middle of an announcement about the upcoming pep-rally; the teacher ushered Sara into the hallway.
"Sara, Principal Nelson thought that we would start you off a little easier today. So I gave him the idea of you showing the new student around at school today! You know, try to familiarize yourself with the school again; we can worry about the classwork later. Would you be ok with that?" The teenager quietly nodded towards the teacher.
"Great! I'll walk you down." She smiled kindly as the duo proceeded down the hallway in silence.
The Guidance office was one of Sara-Beth's most frequently visited areas of the school. So as soon as she walked into the colorfully lit room; an instant feeling of calm and comfort washed over her. Dozens of poster with words and pictures of encouragement plastered on the walls. It was comforting for Sara to see the familiar sights and sounds of the spacious room.
In the back of the room sat Mrs.Pennsa talking to someone at her large oak desk. With further inspection; Sara that "someone" she was talking to was a young man who appeared to be her age, if anything slightly older. He had spiky, red hair with black roots; and he wore a long trench coat with leather boots to match. Saying that he looked intimidating was a large understatement; but it was hard for Sara to be unnerved by the tall student. She figured that he was just all talk and no walk. Though, she did like his sense of style. She could respect any guy who could pull off punk and rocker clothes; considering that those were her favorite thing to wear."OH, here she is now!" Her thoughts were shattered like glass as both Mrs.Pennsa and the boy stood up from their chairs and made their way over to Sara and her teacher.
"Sara, this is the new student Mrs.Shooper told you about. If you don't mind; we thought it would be nice if you would show him around." She smiled a bright, happy smile.
That bothered Sara. She felt that same way she did when she was in the hospital with that Doctor.
She distracted herself from her annoyance by turning her attention to the boy next to the counselor. He was at least 5' 9"feet tall; which was only slightly taller than Sara-Beth's 5'5.5" stature. They were actually very similar in the shape of the figures and frames. They both had tall, slender bodies; with muscle definition in their arms, legs, and abs. The only main difference in their shapes was that he was much more masculine; and she looked much more flexible, which she was.
