[Whoop, so here's the second part today. And I know some people are going to be happy and relieved with it's contents. So, Comment and enjoy! Happy Reading! ^_^]
It was the next day when Belinda finally woke up. She was tucked in, her hair spilling all over the pillow. She sat up, trying to get a sense of what had happened before she went to sleep. She remembered the way Keith had held her, the way he had leaned against her before Gina had come in, ruining the moment. She wasn't even sure he was going to kiss her, that he had even been thinking along the same lines!
It was frustrating, not knowing what he was thinking, not knowing how he felt when he was with her. She looked for her watch and spotted a hasty note sitting on the small cabinet by her head. She opened curiously, wondering who would have left her a note. It read:
'Hey Belinda, sorry I had to leave. I tried to say goodbye but you were just so asleep! See you tomorrow, we're going to spring you out. It's just not safe when Andrew knows you're there on your own. Keith x'
Belinda smiled as the doctor came into her room to take her temperature, see how her heart rate was doing...apparently the usual. Minus the response check under her eyelids. He seemed impressed with her, obviously surprised that she was this much better in one day. She felt more normal than she had since...since she couldn't remember. Better than normal, she felt fantastic.
"Am I getting out of here today?" she asked, curiosity bubbling. She knew she shouldn't hope to get out but Keith had given her hope a boost. "It's just...I'm none too comfortable staying here. I think I'd be more comfortable..."
"Hmm, well, you are doing much better," the doctor admitted, making her grin. "Listen, let's make a deal. You manage to have both breakfast and lunch without throwing it up and we'll see what we can do to get you out of here. Lord knows we need all the beds we can get and if you're feeling better..."
Belinda obediently ate her meals, forcing them to stay there. She refused to throw up, not wanting to stay in the hospital. She was desperate to be at Keith's house, safe and cared for. She was afraid that if she stayed here much longer something was going to go wrong. As the hours inched their way past, she started packing what Maggie had brought for her, in case she woke up whilst they weren't there she assumed.
It was much later that a knock came at her door. Keith was coming in, hesitating on the threshold. He looked embarrassed to be there and she realised that he had gotten pretty close to her yesterday. Maybe he thought she was mad at him. Or maybe he had realised what he had been about to do and was embarrassed at what she might think was going on. Or maybe-
"Hey, listen. Maggie packed you some clothes, you know, for the ride home. But...she decided to wait with mum. So be quick getting changed, okay? Then we'll get you discharged and we can go home. Okay?"
"S-sure," Belinda stuttered, blushing at her own idiocy. She wished she could say something smart, to make yesterday seem like it had never happened, like it wasn't the highlight of her day. "Hey, um, about yesterday-"
"What about yesterday?" he answered, too quickly. He gritted his teeth and tried to make light of it. He didn't want her telling Jack that he was getting a little too friendly with her. "You mean with Andrew? Uh, we don't know what we're going to do yet but...we'll figure something out. Now hurry up and get dressed so we can go, yeah?"
Belinda nodded and sighed internally. He obviously hadn't meant to do anything 'untoward' to her, which meant he hadn't been thinking about kissing her. So she might as well forget all those little fantasies that had tumbled through her head last night...
When she was finally dressed, she picked up her bags and went to discharge herself. She smiled at the nurse in a way she hoped was healthy and then let Keith usher out of the building, his arm slung protectively around her shoulder. Probably to protect her from Andrew, should he appear in front of them. And then he was bundling her into the car, next to himself (Maggie was sitting up front) and then they were moving away.
