[Okay, so it's short. I'm trying to keep up with two stories now, so it's going to be a little more difficult. But, hopefully, I won't find it too much trouble and give up! ^_^ Comment please! Happy Reading ^_^]
Belinda woke up inside a house. She knew it was a house because she couldn't hear the constant bleeping you could always hear in hospitals, nor did it smell of disinfectant. She smiled as she looked around, taking in the now familiar sights of the James' spare room. She looked at her silent clock and smiled again. It was five thirty in the morning. Some things evidently never changed.
She made her way downstairs, sweeping her hair into a ponytail as she started her usual morning routine. She yawned, pushing bread into the toaster as she turned on the kettle. She was going to need caffeine if she was going to make it through the day and she desperately wanted to make it through the day. She started humming as the kettle reached boiling point and she poured herself a mug of tea.
As she put the kettle down she felt Keith's arms slip around her waist. She jumped slightly and he chuckled into her ear, dragging her away from her drink. She blushed and tried to push him away. He chuckled again, pulling her right up to him.
"Keith," she whispered furiously. "Let go! I've got to get ready! My tea's going to go cold..."
"So make another one," he whispered, his lips brushing her neck. She gave p trying to push him away and just relaxed into him, enjoying the feel of it. She tilted her head back, looking at him. He kissed her gently on her forehead, his lips only just brushing it. "And it's not like you haven't got time. Jack's coming around to give Maggie a lift and you're riding on the back of my bike."
"Oh really?" Belinda asked sceptically. She tried to raise one eyebrow and gave up. She'd never been any good at it, probably never would be. He kissed her neck again before letting go. "So when did we decide that? And by 'we' I mean 'you'."
"Hey, come on," he protested, slipping some more bread into the toaster and handing her the ones that were already done. "It's not like it's a bad idea. And, anyway, Jack said it would be a good idea. Aren't you going to be tired enough?"
Belinda couldn't disagree so she just 'harrumphed'. She turned and leaned on the counter, sipping her tea and staring at him. He was putting butter and jam on his toast, a slight smile on his lips. He could feel her looking at him and he looked at her quizzically. She just shook her head, humming again. She seemed in a good mood, despite everything that was going on.
"So anyway, did you want to go visit your mum after school? If you're up to it, I mean."
"Yeah, I kind of need to see her. You never know," she said, trying to seem light-hearted. "She might have woken up by now."
"Hey, she's going to be fine," Keith said, wrapping his arms around her.
"How do you know? I mean, what if she isn't okay? What- what if she's got worse and I've just been messing around, not bothering to check on her-"
"Hey, I would hardly call what you went through messing around. Jesus Belinda, you were unconscious. Not exactly your fault. Which reminds me, I owe you an apology."
"For what? Oh, yes, I know, jumping in after me and pulling me out. Oh damn you Keith James, for saving my life. Damn you to heck."
"It wouldn't have needed saving if I'd just listened to you," Keith said quietly, his arms tensing. "God, if you hadn't woken up..."
Belinda laughed uneasily. "But I did. I woke up and everything's fine. Everything is fine, isn't it?"
"That depends," Keith said slowly, loosening his grip slightly. He felt her hands tighten on his arms and he forced her to turn around to look at him. She looked up at him, biting her lip. "What do you consider 'fine'?"
"This." She reached up and kissed him before she could change her mind, her arms stretching up around his neck. She was nervous and she wasn't sure if she was doing it right but she wanted to kiss him so badly. She felt a rush of joy when he kissed her back, his arms tightening around her again.
As he pulled away she let her eyelids flutter open, looking up at him from under her eyelashes. His eyes were half closed, his lips still reaching for hers a little and his forehead leaning against her own. His breathing was ragged and one of his hands was halfway up her cami-top. She held her breath waiting for him to say something, anything.
"Um, well, I wouldn't consider that just 'fine'," he murmured. "But I would definitely like to make it something more regular."
Belinda smiled as his lips pressed back onto hers, soft and sweet. They were interrupted when someone squeaked in the kitchen doorway before rushing out again. Belinda looked towards the door guiltily and then back at Keith. He sighed, pulling completely away and running a hand through his hair.
"I should probably go and make sure she's okay," he mumbled. "It's not like any little sister wants to walk in on her brother making out with someone..."
Belinda grinned shyly before turning back to her mug of tea. "Keith! Ugh, cold tea!" Keith chuckled as he made his way to Maggie's room, knocking lightly on the door. He heard her squeaky 'come in' and pushed the door lightly. She was bright red and he couldn't help but smile gently at her.
"Hey kiddo, you okay?"
"Um, yeah, I'm fine," she muttered, the blush spreading down her neck. "I'm going to go ahead and assume you're at least a little better than okay. You know, if what I saw in the kitchen was anything to go by..."
"Mags! Have a little shame!"
"What, me?!" Maggie scoffed, giggling. "I'm not making out with somebody at six in the morning!"
Keith blushed and stuttered, trying to come up with a good excuse before giving up and smiling sheepishly. Their conversation moved onto lighter - not to mention easier - topics. Eventually Belinda came and told them both to hurry up and get ready, smiling brightly. They waited until Keith was out of the room to start talking.
"So, when did that happen? Before or after he came back?"
Belinda blushed, mumbling slightly before hastily changing the subject.
"Is Tammy okay? Have you fed her yet, or do you need me to go get her a new bowl? That one's got to be getting a little dirty..."
After about ten minutes Belinda wandered back to her room, stumbling through the process of getting ready. She couldn't believe Maggie had walked in on that this morning - she could hardly believe it had happened! But...she was just glad things were finally on the up again. She had never dreamt that something like this could happen. And Keith was just...wow. Every time he kissed her it was like something was burning inside of her, intense and terrifying but intoxicating.
