HER LAST CONFESSION
I never knew what it felt like to jump off a cliff before. As a child, I always heard in Sunday school, that if you killed yourself you would end up in a place called "hell". I never believed there was a place called hell or heaven. I believed that if you died, you died. Mama always said 'trust in God and you would never have to worry about anything', but one look at her life and I changed my mind into believing in her unseen God. She was a crazy woman who wanted to drag me and Sally along with her, she succeeded with Sally, oh she sure did and Sally later regretted it, or so she said. Even papa was tired of mama and found pleasure in the company of any woman that came his way. He mocked mama saying 'where is your unseen god and why can't he stop me from cheating on you'. I didn't blame papa, he was an alcoholic and a slave to drinking. He would come home around 12.30am and start making noise, when mama tried to calm him down, reminding him that his children are asleep, he shouts at her,calling her all foul names and it eventually generated to him beating mama. When the hitting started mama would tell me that she got injured while cooking or she fell on her way to the grocery store. I wasn't fooled by her because I was always in the shadows when it happened.
