I stood in front of the our new house, holding a suitcase in one hand, holding my moms hand in another and suitcases all over us.

She squeezed my hand. “This is it, open the door sweetie”

I took in a breath and opened the door to our cabin.

I blinked, smiled at her and walked in. There was a medium sized living room, a kitchen, a room for my mom and another…for me.

I walked in to my new room and gasped. Not only was it a perfect size, it had bunch of wooden bookshelves, an already placed stereo and a window bed.

I looked around the room and went and sat on the window bed. I gently moved away the curtains and looked out. My eyes widened at the fact that the view from the window was directly facing the beach.

I sat still looking at the waves crashing the shore, the different people running across the beach, that pleasant vibe just looking over at the sight.

A slight knock on the door broke me from my trance. I turned to look at my mom smiling at me. I got off the bed and went and hugged her.

“Thank you mom, this is perfect”

She ruffled my hair. “I’m glad you like it hon, I really am”

I pulled myself backwards and smiled at her.

“Things will be different from now babe, I can feel it”, she said, with a slight smile.

I shrugged and smiled crookedly.

I held her arms and looked out the window again.

I wished I could believe her. I really did.

“That’s it, the last of the boxes in to the house mom”, I said, dusting my hands on to my jeans and walking over to the kitchen.

She placed a box on the counter top and looked at me. “All your boxes in your room?”

I nodded.

“All the office supplies?”

I nodded.

“My boxes in my room?”

I frowned and nodded and again.

“The other boxes?”

I looked at her with a straight face and this time, refused to nod.

She laughed. “I’m only kidding love, now why don’t you go walk by the beach while I do the kitchen?”

I straightened at my mom’s comment. “Seriously? But what about the rest of the unpacking?”

“We’ll do it later silly. Now go, it’s going to be sunset and lovely”

I bit my lip. As much as I wanted to go, I didn’t want to leave my mother to herself while unpacking. “You sure mom?”

“Yes grandma, I’ll be alright”, she said mockingly.

I laughed. “Okay then, I’ll be back soon”

“You know the way home right?”

“Right, cause its so hard to figure it out cause we live straight opposite the beach”

She ignored me bluntly and said, “Cabin Number Three. Remember”

“Alright, I won’t forget mom. Can I go now?”, I said, not being able to contain myself from running across the beach.

“Don’t run off with any strangers you hear!”, she said, as I already started to make my way out.

I laughed as I put on my flip flops and closed the door gently, not before winking at my mom.
