I kept my eyes tightly shut. I could feel layers of cool silk and soft lace around me. My wedding gown. I had gotten over my nervous breakdown from the morning and now my mother, aunt, Valerie, Jennifer, and my servant, Rosaline, were adding the final touches to my wedding day attire.
"Catalyn." Aunt Amber said. "Open your eyes."
"No!" I said, nervously. "I look horrid."
"Dear, you have'nt even seen youself." my mothers voice said, soft and convincing.
Slowly I opened my eyes, and gasped. The dress was beautiful, what every bride dreamed of, with a traling train and cream colored silk. A delicate silver circlet, studded with diamonds, was upon my head, with a long, veil cascading down the back of it. Delicate diamond jewelry adorned my wrists, neck, and ears, and everytime I moved, it caught the light and gave the illusion I was sparkling.
"Oh dearie." Jennifer said, tears rolling down her face. "You look gorgeous!"
I smiled and the angel in the mirror did too. Cautiously, as though afraid my reflection would dissappear, I touched the mirror. "Is this me?"
"Of course idiot." said Valerie, wiping away a tear.
"Well dear," said my mother. "It's time to go."
I breathed deeply, as I watched tears rolling down the faces of my family. "Yes. Let's get this over with."

The carriage rolled up to the church, the white horses prancing and neighing. I breathed deeply, trying to calm myself down. My father, dressed in his court clothes, came to the door.
"Ready?" he asked. I nodded. "Sweetheart, you look...breathtaking." He said, kissing my hand as I got out of the carriage. He handed me my bouquet, a bunch of red and white roses.
"Thank you, father." I said.
I waited for the sign to walk in. First, a procession of flower girls, led by Valerie, then a ring carrier, Alexander. Then Lien gave me the sign to walk in. He winked as I walked by.
I heard an intake of breath as I walked in. Adrian was at the altar, with Eoin and Fynn, his best men, behind him. I took care not to stumble and focused on Eoin. He nodded and gave me a small smile. I smiled back and he winked.
I mounted the dais and handed my bouquet to Fynn. I turned to face Adrian. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Leo, standing tall and handsome, his golden hair gleaming.
"Dearly beloved," the priest began, "We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of this man and this woman by the ancient rite of handfasting. Are there any here today, with a lawful reason as to why these too should not be lawfully wed?"
Leo fidgeted. A moment's silence.
No one spoke. My last hope of freedom was gone.
The priest placed my hand in Adrians, who gripped it tightly, whether out of nervousness or brutality, I could not tell. Eoin and Fynn brought forward colored ribbons, and the priest draped them over our hands.
"Please repeat after me, Prince Adrian. I, Adrian, take thee, Catalyn, to be my wedded wife, through sickness and health, through pain and sorrow, till death us depart."
