"RIIIINNNNGGGG"
The loud bell roared throughout the large school. "Hmm, I guess that does it for class then. Remember to take your textbooks home for winter break, once you get back you have a huge test that's about 45% of your grades." The suited, grey haired man announced. The class groaned, and one by one, they walked out of the classroom."THUD". A loud sound emitted through the hallway as a large blue textbook made quick contact with the ground. "Ugh, damnit." The dark haired boy exclaimed as he reached down to retrieve the grounded book. The pale boys hair was long, spiky, and jet black, long enough to cover an eye, and reach down to his shoulders. His outfit consisted of a black hoodie, black jeans, and flats. He retrieved the book, and stuffed it in his half empty locker, which mostly contained other textbooks. "YO KOYA!" a loud feminine voice emitted from the large hallway. The boy turned to find a young female, no older than 16, running in his direction. When she caught up to him, she stood up straight and smiled at him. She was short, about his shoulder length. she had large hazel eyes, and a pale face with dark brown straight hair that ran down to her back. She wore a black shirt with a shiny purple bedazzled kitten print in the middle, below her was a black skirt with a small black chain hanging off to the side, and boots with stockings that stopped at her thighs. "Hey Rei, ready to go?" The boy asked. "Hehe...actually..." She started. "You can't hang today huh?" He sighed. "Sorry, my neighbor just called and asked if I can babysit when she leaves in the next hour, and if you haven't noticed, I'm kinda broke, sooo..."
"Well, do what you gotta do, we've got nothing but time to hang out later, it is winter break after all." He laughed. "Thank youuu! You're the greatest, you know that?" She said as she wrapped her arms around him for a short embrace, himself doing the same. "Damn straight, now go sit on some babies, text me later alright?" He asked as they pulled away. "I will, see ya!" She announced as she ran in the opposite direction of him. He then fell silent as he watched her run off. The only noise left was that of the passing students in the long lighted hallway. He then turned his attention back to his locker, and closed it. He then placed his hands in his pockets, and started towards the front of the school. "BOOM!" A loud noise boomed from the outside, causing a vicious rumble in the earth beneath him, causing him and everyone in the hallway to come to a complete halt. A loud roar then emitted from the outside, so loud that the windows shattered effortlessly at the sound. Everyone removed their hands and arms from their ears, and glanced outside. They caught a glimpse of a large, building towering, shadowed beast emerging from a large black hole tearing the sky about a street or two away from the school. The silence broke, and everyone began to panic. The sounds of slamming lockers and people screaming overpowered the halls. The black haired boy stood in awe as he tried to grasp the situation unfolding before him. What in the world is this?! He thought to himself. He snapped himself back to reality, and bolted towards the doors of the school, pushing past everyone nimbly with speed. He reached the outside, and was forced to pause at the scenery before him. Small houses along the long street had been bashed inward, leaving nothing but rubble. The sky was blood red, and covered in large, sky scraping shadowed creatures, and much smaller, flying ones. "EEEEK!" A loud, familiar shriek pierced his ears. He moved without a second thought towards the loud sound, and came across the dark brown haired girl, forced against a wall by a completely darkened wolf like creature. "What IS this thing!?" She panicked. With no time wasted, he dashed full force at the creature, tackling it to the ground. "K-Koya?!" She shouted in shock. "GET MOVING, ILL BE RIGHT BEHIND YOU!" Koya shouted as he pinned the strange creature down. She quickly made a dash for the large, panic filled streets. Koya stood, and kicked the strange creature in its face, following close behind. "W-where are we running?!" She asked as he caught up to her. "My place, come on!" He yelled as he took her hand, and lead her through the large crowds of people.

After turning the final corner on the street, his house was finally in view. The two didnt stop until they made it inside. Koya immediately slammed the door shut and locked it, and they both leaned on it, gasping violently for air. "Um, you can let go of my hand now..." Rei said calmly after they regained composure. He quickly yanked his hand away and put it on his lap, his face becoming bright red in the process. "S-sorry about that..." he whispered, slightly embarassed. "Hehe, don't worry about it. Im lucky I still have a hand in the first place. Thanks for the save, that was awsome!! How did you even do that?!" She asked in an exited tone. "To be honest with you, im not really sure... I just, kinda did it, ya know?" He sighed looking at his ceiling, lost in thought. "Well-" Rei began, but she was soon cut off by the violent shaking of the house around them. They both stood and scanned the house. "We can't stay here long, those...things are gonna destroy the entire city soon." Koya stated. "But where would we go?! Neither of us know how to drive, and I can guaruntee we won't get far on foot!" Rei panicked. "Well we can't stay here and argue about it! We don't have enough-" He suddenly paused. Rei gave him a confused glare. "Time..." he finally finished. "Wait here a second." He said as he dashed up the wooden staircase, which squeaked from every step. Rei stared at the staircase in utter confusion. She then pulled her phone out and clicked the power button residing on the side, and stared at the corner. "No signal, great..." She sighed to herself. She then put the phone back and crossed her arms returning her attention the the quiet stairway. "What are you doing?! You just said we don't have enough time! We need to leave!" She shouted. "Not yet! If we went out there now, we'd have no way of defending ourselves!" He replied loudly from above. "B-but I need to see if my parents and Miko are ok!" She panicked. The squeaking returned as Koya rushed down the staircase with a strange, shiny, metallic chest with moving lights in his hands. "Um, Koya? What the hell is that?" She questioned hastily. "Im not sure but, before my mom left, she told me that if any situation came up while she was gone, to use whatever's in this box from her room." Koya said as he scanned every inch of the chest. "Ok, but whats in it? And how's it gonna help us?!" Rei glanced frantically between him and the box. "I have no idea, this thing has been around for as long as I remember, and everytime I tried to open it, my mom always stopped me. I asked when i would see whats in it and she said 'you'll know in due time kiddo'." He said in a calming manner. He then attempted to lift the lid of the box. Unsuccessful, he attempted a second time, with more aggression. "What in the hell is this thing made of?!" He struggled. "Um, why not try the button that all those little lights keep going towards." Rei pointed. He looked again, and noticed the strange center of the chest containing a small button. "I....saw that..." He stuttered. He then proceeded to press it. It opened slowly, releasing a small cloud of smoke on either side, temporarily blocking view of the content inside. Their pupils dilated, patiently awaiting. The smoke cleared to reveal a small, black remote with a series of number buttons like a normal remote, but with abnormally large fast forward, rewind, and pause buttons, sitting comfortably in the metallic interior of the box. "Is...is that a tv remote?" Rei hesitated, disappointment filling her voice. "This...has to be a joke, how is a stupid remote gonna help us?!" He yelled angrily, picking up the remote and searching it thoroughly. "I cant BELIEVE THIS!" He shouted in anger as he chucked the remote behind him. "CRASH!" Their heads turn quickly towards the loud noise of breaking objects. The smoke cleared to reveal a large, wide, blue virtual like blade sticking out of the wall above the debris. Attached to the end was the remote, much like a handle. They stared in awe at the obscure scene, jaws dropped. "How...what...huh?!" He muttered, not letting up his gaze on the long blade sticking out of his wall. "I-is that...a sword?!" Rei questioned in panic. They slowly approached the remote. Koya cautiously grabbed it, pulling the sword out of the wall in the process. He held the virtual blade upwards, and stared intensely. "This...this is what my mom was hiding?!" He yelled. "Why would she put this in a box out in the open? What kind of remote is this?"
"Remote? Thats a weapon dude."
"Ok, but the remotes the handle, soooo..."
"If it can kill people, its a weapon."
"Not just people...it can probably kill those things outside too!"
"Yeah but...what about those really big ones?! How is this tiny thing gonna stop them?!"
Koya paused. The small grin that had somehow sneaked its way onto his face suddenly faded. "Your right..." He sighed. Silence filled the room. The silence was soon drowned out by the terrified screams and building smashing coming from outside. "Mom...dad...Miko..." Rei's voice broke. She began to sob, and quickly covered her face with her hands. "Rei..." He muttered. "Damnit, is this really....how it ends?" He stared at the remote, with a worried look, never letting up."GASP"
A loud gasp emitted through the house. Rei removed her hands from her face. "K-Koya?!" She panicked. Koya sat completely still, with his eyes rolled to the back of his head. "KOYA WAKE UP!!" She screamed. She grabbed his shoulders and shook him violently. There was no response. "Koya...don't leave me..." She began sobbing violently, leaning her face into his chest. Suddenly, he stood, his blue eyes still nowhere to be found. "Huh? Koya?" She stared at him. He lifted his hand containing the remote, and aimed it towards the roof. Rei stood and scanned the dark haired boy up and down, not letting go of his shirt. "Are...you ok?" She asked the unresponsive Koya. He then pressed the rewind button. Suddenly, the world around them instantly became without color, everything went white. "W-whats happening?! Koya what is this?!" She called out to him, and tugged on his shirt, but to no avail. It was only a few seconds until finally, the world around them became familiar once again. "THUD" Koya closed his eyes and fell to the ground, releasing the remote from his grip. Rei kneeled down and placed her ear near his mouth. "Thank god...he's unconscious." She whispered to herself in a relieving tone. She then turned her attention towards the bright window. "Wait...its daytime again?" She asked herself. She then quickly removed her phone from her pocket and clicked the power button once again."No...no way..."
