The horizon was a beautiful sight as the sun set. All you could see was the ocean on the horizon, no land or other boats. It was just our boat and the setting sun. The feeling of the warm wind blowing the sea water across your face as the boat sailed through the waves caused by the current of the ocean.
It had been a long time since I have sailed on the ocean. My last mission on the ocean with the CIA was where I was going through the Pacific Ocean to a small island in the middle of the ocean, where an madman resided who had the son of the Speaker of the House held captive. However, that was my job as an agent of the CIA, to recover hostages from people who wanted to do harm to them or want to hold them at ransom. They call me into to go into the area of hostility and intercept the hostage without no causalities, but sometimes that rarely happens. Most of the time the person who is holding hostages and his men will be killed because they don't follow orders of the US government once they have received their demands. However, there have been only one time I could not rescue a hostage, it was my very first mission when a criminal took hostage a teenage boy by the name of Jonathan. The kidnapper took Jonathan all the way to some Russian mountains outside of Moscow and held him hostage until his father, a well known scientist by the name of William Heathman, gave him a cure for his wife's rare illness that had no cure. The situation went on for three weeks and the scientist could not come up with a cure, eventually I and two of my closest colleagues were giving the go ahead to do whatever needed to be done to save Jonathan. However, by the time we made it to the compound where the kidnapper was holding Jonathan, I heard a gun shot and rushed to where I heard it. I found Jonathan in a pool of his own blood, a gun shot wound to the head. A teenage boy who would had his life ahead of his was dead in front of me while his killer still lived.
The madman was sentenced to a life of imprisonment and his wife died two months after his incarceration. I had nightmares for weeks after the mission, images of Jonathan's dead face burnt into my mind. I made it my mission to not let anymore people end up with Jonathan's fate, to not let anymore of criminals win or gain the upper hand.
"Olivia?" A teenage voice called my name. I smiled as I recognized the voice.
I turned from that beautiful sunset and faced a nineteen year old girl, her slightly curly red hair was blowing to one side as she stared at me with her wonder filled blue eyes. She was short for her age, but she was tough and smart girl. She was in a pink windbreaker jacket with a black shirt underneath, jeans and black boots. She was my younger sister Kali.
"Hey Kali." I said to her sweetly.
"I came to get you for dinner." She said. "Are you hungry?"
"Yes." I replied and started to walk with her to the mess hall on the boat.
Even though Kali is my younger sister, I am also her legal guardian. Our parents died in the 9/11 attacks when their plane went through the South Tower, we were suppose to be on that plane as well but my sister and I stayed home when she came down with the flu. Since I was the age of seventeen, I could legally be her guardian. I did not want Kali to end up in the foster system for a ten years of her life. The CIA gave me a way out when they recruited me, they have been taking care of my sister and I since then in exchange for me doing the missions they assign me. However, they accepted her as a family member of their own as well, rarely she is ever called Kali while out with my colleagues, they just simply call her Stone. People will watch and look out for her while I am gone away on missions.
I was recruited at the age of twenty-two, I had been a navy seal for since the age of eighteen. From that point on, I became Agent Olivia Stone or Frostbyte ( my code name, the fact I am a cold hearted bitch with a nasty bite was where it came from). I was a dark haired beauty from the city of New Orleans, I looked like my father with dark brown hair and dazzling blue eyes, my height and attitude came from my mother would was half-Irish and half-Romanian. Kali was the one to inherit my dad's kindness and generosity, but she looked like my mother.
Kali knows that I am apart of the CIA, however she is the only one and she is sworn to secrecy by the national government. Sometimes I would have to leave her weeks at a time and she had to know what I was doing in case something happened to me on a mission. The unknown worried her, she was still underage and if something happened to me, she would go to the foster system. The CIA only care for her and I until I am retired or I am dead.
However, I am afraid the bad guys will start to go after her. It was very important for us to be relocated every few months. I am very infamous in the Underground due how many people I have taken down from their organization, they all want me dead of course. The Underground is a criminal organization of thugs or criminals who are on the CIA's watch list, but The Underground was something nobody talked about because of fear. They were hitmen, kidnappers, mafia bosses, dirty cops and CEOs' of many companies; they all have the same matching tattoo, that is on their wrist, of a serpent that remains hidden by simple things such as a watch or bracelet, jacket sleeve, etc. Either way, they all knew my name and what I was capable of, that meant my sister could be in real danger if they ever discovered she existed.
However today was the day it would all change, little did I know that they did in fact know about my little sister and what she meant to me. In less then twenty-four hours, my world will be turned upside down. Compromising me was one thing, but compromising my sister is another. And they knew she was the key to getting to me.
