In the beginning 1
Everything always starts off good, right? Life is going well and nothing could be better. Then Life decides that you've had your share of happiness. It starts slow, but it picks up the pace after a few weeks.
We were the envy family, the kind of family everyone wanted to be. All of us were close, my mom, dad, sister, and I got along. Never had any real serious fights. We were the ideal family.
When I turned 13, everything changed. One of my moms brothers shot and killed himself. My dad lost his job. My 20 year old disabled sister got pregnant. It was my first year of junior high. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me introduce myself. My name is Jeanette Brown. As I said before, I have a mom, dad, and a sister. These three people are the only family that I really had all of my life. I'm 19 now. I'm writing all of this because my therapist said that I would feel better once I got it all down. Back to my family.
For as long as I could remember, my family was happy. Every Sunday night, we would sit at the dinning room table, have dinner, and talk about any and everything. Friday nights were Game Night. We would either sit outside or sit at the table and play board games until everyone went to bed. When I would get home from school, my sister would help me with my homework while mom made dinner. Then dad would get ready for work. He worked nights at a factory. When dad left for work at a quarter to five, us girls would just chill out for the rest of the night. That was a normal week for us. None of us really liked to leave the house. I was doing well in school, thanks to my sister. Even though we did those family things on Friday and Sunday, Saturday was the real family day. We went on hikes, we went to parks, the movies, dinner, cooked, baked, whatever. We always did it as a family. We were as close as any family would wish to be.
