Any progress Lilith thought she had made had vanished completely once the water touched her hand, due to the connection between Lacussa and the lake. Even without the lake, Lacussa would have overpowered Lilith eventually but with it... there had been no chance of a victory for Lilith.
Once back in her chamber, with the entrance to the tunnel completely sealed up, Lacussa threw up every barrier she knew of to prevent any form of rebellion from Lilith. She visualised brick walls, rising higher than the eye could see; padlocks and chains entwined through thick wooden bars; long corridors of closed, locked doors. Realistically, Lacussa knew that Lilith was not powerful enough to truly overthrow her but even the smallest of lapses could prove fateful, both to Lacussa and the mission which she had agreed to see through.
