PART III THE APOCALYPSE CHAPTER XIII

In the months that followed Frazier's broadcast many accepted the challenge. Many accepted the truth and rose united to fight against Nightfall. War has ensued all over the world for the last ten months. Armies from all over the world have come together and formed an alliance against Nightfall. The longer the war has raged the more the truth has been exposed. This war is not without cost. Nuclear warheads have been launched and have wreaked havoc in several parts of the globe. Counties have been decimated. Lands left in ruin with fallout. Many have been brutally slaughtered, faced starvation, and deprivation in the Communist counties as well as the ones under dictators. The United States military has nearly split in two with one half siding with the President and the other half opposing him. The United States was experiencing a second Civil War along with a third World War. Brother against brother. Phoenix hoped that this war would end soon. It seemed that Nightfall would never surrender. As ruthless and determined as they were; they would never give up. They would fight till the last man. It was believed that the war was nearing the end. Africa had nearly torn itself apart with civil wars and Australia had nearly done the same. Asia was mostly a barren wasteland with all of the nuclear missiles striking it. India and half of China were still free from the radioactivity.

Russia was nearly all contaminated. Only parts of it remained uncontaminated. Vietnam and North Korea were still at large. North Korea had invaded South Korea and taken them prisoner. They had also begun to eliminate the South Koreans. It was genocide. The North Koreans were ruthless and without mercy. It was not worth sending in good soldiers to take them out. These people were so cruel and ruthless that they had literally eliminated every civilian. All of Korea was under the North. A Communist power that was entirely militaristic. Only the military lived there. It was the agreement of those apart of Phoenix that a nuclear strike should be initiated. It was December 3, 2038 that the aircraft carrier or submarine George W. Bush detonated a missile several miles away from Korea beneath the surface of the  ocean to create a massive tidal wave that was several miles high. The tidal wave made its way towards Korea. There was no warning. The wave was less than ten miles away. By the time Korea knew of the wave it was too late. The wave struck Korea flooding the entire country. The country was under fathoms of water. Korea had literally been wiped off of the map.

This action was a message to Nightfall to surrender. It was only a fraction of what Phoenix and their new allies could really do. If they had gone out and defeated them months ago, many people would have died. It was the strategic planning and preparation that allowed Phoenix to slowly, but surely push Nightfall back. Europe was in an uproar. Just like Africa it too had nearly torn itself apart through civil war. England, France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, and Portugal had made an alliance against the rest of the European nations who had made an alliance or else crumbled within themselves like Greece and Italy with feeble economies.

South America mostly opposed Nightfall. Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Peru aligned against the rest of the nations of South America. Central America was nothing, but barren wasteland. They had been taken out by each other or by other opposing nations with nuclear missiles. Mexico had fallen after it suffered a half a dozen nuclear strikes. It took long enough for Mexico to surrender, however.

The United States economy collapsed shortly after the war back in February began. There was civil unrest. Chaos flooded the streets. Many had to band together for survival as the civil war continued to rage. As brother killed brother, some thought that maybe this war could have been prevented if Frazier had not told the world of Nightfall. The world would not be as chaotic as it was now. Many people would still be alive. Civil wars and other wars would not be tearing counties and continents apart.
