The beautiful silence of the morning was cut off by my 6:30 a.m. alarm. I groan and hit the ‘off’ button. The movement of the body next to me makes me smile slightly. An arm drapes over my stomach and a head moves into my view. I run my hand through my fiancé’s hair and gently kiss him.
“Good morning.” He murmurs.
“Good morning.” I say back to him and smile at his sleepy face. He groans and turns onto his back. I uncover myself and stretch, yawning in the process. I stand up slowly and then stumble over to my bureau, yanking a stubborn drawer out. I pull out a black bra and a thong, closing the drawer with ease. Sure, be a pain in my ass when I need my stuff. I shake my head slightly and open a different drawer, pulling out a pair grey sweatpants and a black long sleeve shirt. I crouch down very slightly and nudge the drawer shut with my butt, putting my clothes on the edge of my bed. I turn and grab my deodorant and body spray. I peel off my bed clothes and then hook my bra and slip my thong on. I pull my shirt over my head, grabbing my deodorant after and putting some on.
“Freeze…” I lift my head up and see my fiancé staring at me with droopy eyes. I smile and blow him a kiss.
“Go back to sleep.” He continues staring at me as I pull my sweatpants on and then spray my body, Old Spice; ‘Swagger’ occupying the space around me.
I slip my phone into my baggy pocket and grab my keys.
“Come on Jay Jay!” Jason, my fiancé’s son, comes running into the living room and almost into me.
“Whoa, careful speed racer.” I smile and he laughs. I grab his hand and he holds mine with an iron grip.
“You said bye to daddy right?” Jason nods, and Micah, my fiancé, comes into the living room—oh thank you for putting pants on. He walks over to Jason and hugs him and then kisses him on the forehead.
“Bye bye daddy!” He then tried to reach the door handle, but luckily he was still a little too short. Micah hugs me and kisses me softly on the lips before rubbing his eyes.
“Be good in school, little man.” Jason nods and smiles.
“Bye hun.” He waves and walks over to our coffee maker.
I slip on my black flip flops before I open the door. Jason pulls me out of the house in a hurry. I shut the door behind me and smile at the 5 year old as he drags me past my 67’ Chevy Impala—and yes, an exact replica of Dean Winchester’s in Supernatural. God damn I love that show!
“Bye mommy!” Jason smiles. I pick him and up and give him a big hug before setting him down on the sidewalk. I wave to him as he goes up the bus stairs. The doors close and I wait at the sidewalk, making sure Jason sat down. He sits next to the window and waves rapidly at me and I wave back. The bus drives away and I sigh. People across the street stare at me and then turn their heads away. I look down at myself. What? I don’t look that bad…
I walk into my little house, shutting the door behind me. I glance over at the stove and look at the time; 7:00. I take off my flip flops and walk over to the coffee machine, resetting it. I walk into the living room and then over to Micah. I kiss him on the cheek and then walk back into the kitchen. I hear a sigh from the other room and then hear feet walking into the kitchen. I had decided that the coffee was done, because I needed a cup desperately. Micah’s arms wrapped around my waist and his lips kissed my neck.
