Brier Rivers was an ordinary girl. She loved animals, reading books, and her family. There was one thing that bothered her, though.
Her father was in the army.
Everyday Brier, who was a home schooled citizen of Alabama, would worry about him. Brier's mother was also clearly worried about him as well; some men in the army never made it home.
"Mom?" Brier asked one day, watching a YouTube video.
"Yes?" her mother replied.
"I miss Dad, can I please Skype him?" asked Brier.
"Sure." said her mother. "Anytime, so long as he's not busy."
"Hey Dad!" squeled an excited Brier as soon as her father answered.
"Hey, Sweetheart. " Breirs dad greeted his daughter with the same name he had been calling her for fifteen years. They probably talked for about thirty minutes before an insanely loud BOOM! interupted them
"Dad....what was that...?" a scared and confused Brier asked.
"I don't know; I love you, goodbye. Tell your mom I love her!" Brier's dad shouted before ending the Skype session.
