Tucker crept down the dirt trail of the forest, loaded bow clutched in hand. He was never much of a shot, but it was the only weapon that he could find. He walked under a patch of sunlight, causing him to pull his hat brim down farther on his face to protect his eyes. He heard a feint rustling being the trees. Quickly, he fired an arrow over towards the sound. It hit the tree with a dull thud.

"Whoa! I come in peace!" a girl, presumably the one who made the noise, said while emerging from the bushes. She had crystal green eyes and wavy brown hair coming from her orange hoodie with a fox tail and ears. She plucked the arrow out of the tree and started skipping towards him. Tucker roles his eyes at his friend, Sonja.

"Oh. Hey Sonj," he said. She skipped over to him and handed him the arrow. He snatched it and slipped it back into its quiver. "What are you doing out here?" he asked. She shrugged.

"I'm very bored," she said. Wow, Tucker thought, it is probably the first time in her twelve years of existence when she was. He was about to turn around on the path, going home, when he heard a scream followed by an explosion from the direction of a nearby town. He exchanged quick glances with Sonja and then they both sprinted towards the cry.

Tom bolted awake to the sound of a scream. And judging by the footsteps coming from upstairs, Jordan did too. Tom ran out of the living room to meet a scared Jordan holding Andor, still half asleep. Jordan turned towards the door, and pulled the door open, still holding Andor with one arm, but by now he was fully awake and squirmed out of his grip. They ran out the door into the street. Tom gasped at what he saw.

Everywhere, houses were burning, people running. Children screamed for their parents. Arrows flying. And then, a group of people emerged from the smoke on horseback. The all had on enchanted iron helmets and chestplates. Except for the leader, who wore the same, by diamond. The leader held up a hand for the group to stop. Then, Tom noticed the leader's face under her helmet.

She had dark purple hair, tied up in a bun. One of her eyes was pale green, the other was purple like her hair. Her thin lips were in a twisted grin. Tom recognized this face. It was the face on Ianite, the feared leader of the Enders. Rage boiled inside Tom. These people destroyed his home as a child, and he wouldn't let them do it again. He stepped forward, Jordan whispering sharply for him to stop. But he was already in sight of the Enders.

"Hey! You!" Tom yelled. The Enders looked at him. "What makes you think that you can just come in here and destroy everything!" A few of the Enders snickered.

"And what makes you think you can yell at us, little boy!" Ianite called. This bitch was just fueling the fire, he thought.

"He's right, though!" a voice called from behind him. It was another boy, about Jordan's age, holding a loads bow at Ianite. Be hind him was a girl, holding up her balled fists, bouncing on the balls of her feet. "I'd suggest leaving, before you get any trouble!" he boy in the hat yelled. This time the whole group laughed.

"That's cute! A bunch of kids trying to stop us!" one of the soldiers laughed. Only then did Tom notice that Ianite wasn't laughing. She was looking at Tom, the boy, and the girl with approving glances.

"Get the green one!" she yelled to her troops. Tom heard footsteps behind him. Jordan had put Andor down and had pulled put a diamond sword, pointing it at the Enders.

"No way in the NETHER are you taking him!" he screamed. The other boy and girl ran to his side. Ianite scoffed. She motioned forward to her troops and arrows came flying out of the crowd. Jordan and the boy managed to dodge, but the girl wasn't so lucky. The arrow came flying into her leg. The other boy whipped around and dropped his bow, picking up the girl bridal style, and running towards the woods.

"FOLLOW ME!" he yelled. Tom picked up Andor and he and Jordan followed the stranger. The boy took winding paths until he ended at a huge tree. He set the girl down, and swiftly mined away to wood blocks from the side. Inside was a small hollow room. He picked up the girl and took her inside. Jordan and Tom followed.

Once inside and the hole had been blocked off, the boy spoke. "That should buy us a little time, 'cause soon, they're gonna burn down trees looking for us." The boy then dropped down to his friend's side, searching a chest until he pulled out a leather bandage and started wrapping it around the wound. The girls eyes widened.

"TUCKER LOOK OUT!" she yelled, just as the handle of a sword hit the boy's head, knocking him unconscious. Before he could react, Tom was too knocked unconscious.
