" Eleanor, please start getting ready. I know you hate these things but tonight is important." Mom was always yelling at me to get ready or to care more about stupid balls. All balls were, were a chance to get dressed up to celebrate in the most obnoxious way. Of course my brother becoming Alpha was a huge deal but ball gowns and dancing somehow celebrated that?

" Mom. I don't like people on our territory and I don't want to get all dressed up." I complained again running my hands across the sparkly Gold material of the dress I'd surely have to wear. Mother came clicking into the room with tall high heels and a flowing Black ball gown. She looked amazing as usual but how tired I was of going and entertaining Alpha's I didn't care about at all.

Of course with the transition ceremony, my father invited every Alpha it seemed like on this earth. All differentiated in pack size, rank, power status, etc. Sadly as the daughter of the Alpha in my pack my job was to entertain them and make sure they were happy.  Especially so my father could make treaties and plans while he had them all here until tomorrow afternoon.

" Eleanor, this is for your brother and it's a big deal! Now hurry up. You'll to be downstairs with in an hour. Thank goodness your hair is already done." Mother was busy, and always preoccupied. She always had been, not that she wasn't a good mother, just more a busy Luna. Something I hadn't ever wanted, I wanted freedom, Excitement, genuine happiness.

" Okay, alright. I'll be down ready to mix and mingle in half an hour, no worries." I shooed my mother out of my room as she waltzed away no doubt going to find my eldest brother and new Alpha, and his newly found mate Sarah. She was pretty of course and Christopher(middle brother) and I thought she would make a good Luna for the pack.

Chris and I were best friends no doubt. He was my big brother but still close enough in age that we always were around each other despite the protectiveness. I ran my fingers over the sequin fabric one last time before gently zipping the fabric tight against my body. It hung perfectly and was indeed a beautiful pick but it just wasn't me. Chris was the only one who knew I had wanted to leave after my eighteenth birthday. That was two months ago and I still haven't worked up the courage to tell my Father. All everyone and anyone talked about was finding their mates, living happily ever after. Although I'd love to have a mate I refuse to give up everything for a man.

I pulled on some plain hidden heels for extra height and finished applying the littlest bit of eye make up for my final look. Stunning yet cunning and powerful. Everything my Alpha couple for parents had raised me to be but everything I was not.

Oh crap, mom was going to kill me. I'm fifteen minutes late, all wrapped up in my thoughts. Finally I stepped out of my room to ascend the stairs to the ball room. The ball room was booming with people, usually people were not late to such important events. The noises coming from the room were loud and almost animalistic. Animalistic for what..?

Opening the large doors for myself surprising, I waltzed in to find.. Chaos?
My brother and my family on one side in fighting stance and oh crap! Oh no what's going on? On the other side was Alpha Theo, the Alpha of the NortherWest Pack. The largest pack anyone's ever seen. You don't get a pack that large without having a reputation for being awful, cold, heartless, ruthless. Some say the moon goddess didn't give him a mate as punishment, he was already 28, like my brother, for werewolves that was a long time to search for your mate. Guess everyone was wrong because when I walked in all eyes snapped to me.

Including the most gorgeous pair of dark brown eyes, empty and terrifying but beautiful. I didn't want him, I didn't even want a mate yet let alone this ruthless Alpha without a heart. My inner wolf was screaming with joy, howling away with her new found love.
