"....this beautiful girl beside me is my girlfriend"
Vernon words echoed in your head. His girlfriend? Like girl friend or really girlfriend? You're confused, you wanted to asked him but the words never slipped. You're afraid he might said that just to make Ivan- wait, why would you care anyways? It's not like he have feelings for you. Shesh.
"Mamamiiiaaaa," Vernon shouted, "Where are you baby?"
You rolled your eyes, "I'm here, in the kitchen" you shouted back.
Vernon peeked from behind the kitchen doorway. "What are you doing?" he flashed his most winning smile.
You can't help but smiled back at him, "Are you just going to stand there and watch me sipping my coffee?" you teased.
"Ahh banter," he winked. He sat on a stool across from you so he was facing you. "You should serve me a coffee too, don't you think? I'm a guess after all," he said casually.
"You're not just a guess. Self-service," you smiled sarcastically. "Oh by the way, why are you here?" you blow your coffee. Damn this coffee is so hot.
"Why? You don't want me to be here?" he pouted, "I was just checking up on you," he rubbed the back of his neck. He seems nervous? Nah, it must be your imagination. Then he got up from his sit and served himself a coffee.
"I'm fine, you don't have to worry," you said.
"Who says I'm worried?" he smirked and folds his arms across his chest.
"Ha ha really funny, Demon," you said smiling. He smiled and turned back to his coffee.
You wanted to asked him about the girlfriend thing but you can't seem to do it. But you need to know and his words about the kiss, our kiss, makes you wanted to melt. Your problem is he make you melt and you don't want to be frozen anymore. You do really want to know how he felt. And how about your feelings towards him? Do you liked him? Of course you do but you just don't want to admit it yet. You're afraid of getting rejected and afraid of falling again. The kiss really meant something to you, too. You didn't realize, Vernon was already sat in front of you, sipping his coffee.
"Vernon?" you asked suddenly. 'should I ask him' you thought. Okay, breath in breathe out. Just asked.
"Hmm?" he stopped sipping his coffee and looked at you with questioning eyes.
"I um, have a um question?" your statement came out more than a question.
"What is it?" he knitted his eyebrows.
"Areyoumyboyfriend?" it came as fast as you thought. Great.
"I'm not a robot, Mia. Slowlyyy," he smirked. He knew it what were you going to say but this demon just, ughh.
Say it or leave it. Breath in, breathe out.
"Are you my boyfriend?" you asked skeptically.
Vernon smiled grew bigger, "Only if you want me to?"
"Huh, we've known each other like 2 or 3 days Vernon," you said casually.
"So what? Love what matters," he grinned.
Love? This demon you can't even put up on him.
"Vernonnn," you whined.
"What?" he frowned. "You don't like me?"
"No, its just-"
"Oh so you do like me," he wiggled his eyebrows. "So its settle then. I'm your boyfriend, girlfriend." he winked
"Vernon look I don't have time to play with you right now," you said irritated.
"Who says I'm playing with you?" he huffed, "Look, I'm dead serious. Can't you see it?"
"How do I know you're being serious?" you asked
"Go out on a date with me," he said bluntly.
"A what?!?" you asked, shocked.
"What? Now you deaf?" he sighed.
You frowned.
"I'm asking you on a date with me, together. Only the two of us," he said in a serious tone.
"What? I can't," you said quickly, avoiding eye contact. Vernon got up from his sit, and take a sit beside you. He hold your hand.
"Is this because of that guy from the library? Ivon? Avon?" he asked.
"Ivan," you corrected him.
"Yeah, him. Is this because of him? or Ivan is your boyfriend? Oh shit. Why didn't you tell me?" he said abruptly.
You hit the back of his head.
"Oww! What was that for?" he rubbed his head.
"I'm not his girlfriend, you fool. If he were, I'm going to kick your dick really hard until you can't even walk for a week when you kissed me," you said sarcastically.
"Yeah, that makes sense. So, this is not because of him then why you can't?"
"Because I can't," you said.
He cupped your face and lean closer to you.
"Say it. Say it you don't want to go on a date with me," he looked at you dead in the eyes.
"I-I, Ver-" someone cut you off.
"Oh, Mia I was looking fo- Oh damn. What are you guys doing in my kitchen?" Mom?
"Mommm, give us a minute. I'm asking Mia on a date but she refused to go out with me," he said. His eyes still peered into you.
"Mooomm, help me," you yelled.
"Ahhh I see. Good luck with that, Vernon," mom laughed. "Please, make sure she go on a date with you. She's getting really lonely lately," she laughed again. "I'll leave you two alone. I love you, Mia," mom shouted and you heard the door slammed shut.
"Vernon, what are you doing?," you tried to get away from his grip.
He kissed you on the forehead, gently.
"Vernon," you sighed.
His eyes trained back into you, "Say it,"
"I-I - Vernon you can't just asked me like that," you said.
He get up from his seat and bent his one kness in front of you. Oh my god, what did you do, what do you do now?
"Vernon, what are you, shit! Get up now," you panicked.
"Calm down, I'm not going to purpose," he hold your both hands. Your hands feel so small in his.
"I'm not a romantic kind of guy, but I'm on my knees now. For you. Mia, will you go out with me?" he pleaded "Please say yes,"
You giggled at his cuteness. How can you say no?
"No," you said bluntly.
"What?!" He had a look of shock plastered on his face.
You laughed loudly, "That look on your face was priceless," a tears threathend to fall out from your eyes.
"Oh so you think this is funny to you?" he get up and brushed his knees.
"Yes," you laughed.
He hissed then he cupped your face. You closed your eyes and sighed.
"Open your eyes, Mia." he said. You opened your eyes. You felt yourself drown in those eyes which held so much emotions to it. Sincerity? Love? Is your mind playing tricks on you?
"Look at me in the eyes and say yes," he smiled.
Your hand came to his face and the pad of your thumb in one of his dimples. Then your eyes moved from your thumb to his and you smiled back and nodded. "Yes," you answered.
