Eleanor P.O.V
Jenna had managed to get us on the guest list of the 28th annual ball that was held in the Castro mansion. I suppose it was easy to sneak in to an exclusive ball if you are dating the head of security for the event.
I looking up at the mansion I was starting to wonder ‘What were we doing here at a ball for the rich and famous since we were far from both those categories. The mansion had limos pulling up out side it. There were lights shinning up on the mansion entrance highlighting the red carpet that lead inside.
We put our masks on before we started to walk towards the entrance. Mine was an aqua colour to match my dress. It had silver going trough it too. Jenna's mask was white with three delicate features coming out of the top which also had silver trimming to it. These had been mine, I had brought these with me when I left home as they had been given to me from my grandmother. Who was now dead.
“Well are you coming” Jenna said braking the silence.
“Yes but are you sure no one will notice us?” I was getting a nervous now.
“I never said no one would notice us, I said they wouldn’t recognize us! If I hadn’t wanted people to notice us I wouldn’t have spent the last 3 hours getting ready.” Jenna had so must confident it always had been some thing I envied about her.
“Okay shall we go then” I guest if I was going to do this it would be better just to get it over with. I followed after Jenna as we made our way to the entrance.
Reaching the entrance Jenna gave our names as Miss Carvello and Miss Champer before winking at the security guard who gave a slight nod before lifting the velvet rope.
As we made our way across the floor, Jenna was making heads turn in her black ankle length dress that had an open back. Her hair was pulled back in to an elegant bun on top of her head. We had borrowed our dresses from Mrs. Even. She was one of the ladies that we had to clean for since she had a room in the Maxwell hotel were we worked. We had managed to get the dresses from her room because she was away for the next month at her dog’s wedding. I had over heard her on the phone one day planning the wedding. She was a very strange woman but no one would dare tell her this as she was currently married to one of the richest and most powerful men in the country.
Before we got to the bar two tall men stepped in front of Jenna. Both of them were wearing black suits with matching black ties. It was hard to tell what there faces were like as they both had masks on.
“Would you care to dance Miss?” one of them asked Jenna
Before replying Jenna glanced at me. I nodded slightly to let her know it was fine.
“Yes, I like that.” I watched the two of them walk off to dance floor. As I turned to continue on my way to the bar, I noticed the other man that had been standing there watching me.
“Can I help you with something?” I didn’t like being watched
“What’s your name?”
“Amm Miss…” Oh no what had Jenna said my name was, I was going to have to think of something fast. “What’s it matter to you?” I knew it was a bad answer but I wasn’t good at thinking under pressure.
“I just like to know a woman’s name before I buy them a drink. Now are you going to tell me or will I just have to make you tell me?”
“Who said I wanted you to buy me a drink and how would you make me tell you?”
“I did and you should be honoured that I chose you! Let’s just say you really don’t want to find out how I’ll make you!” The tone of his voice had a slight edge so I decided it be better if I finished this conversation now before I said something I’d regret. I started to walk around the man but he stepped in my way. I tried again but it was no use he wasn’t going to let this go.
“Did you never learn it was rude to walk away from a gentleman when he asks you his name?”
“First you’d have---”
I was interrupted by a voice behind me
“Adam leave her alone. If she doesn’t want to talk to you then she doesn’t have to” I turned to be facing a tall figure in a white shirt and blue tie.
“I was only asking her what her name was”
Ignoring him the blue tie guy looked down at me and held out a hand
“Would you like to dance?”
“Yes!” I think I sounded a little too eager but I really wanted to get away from Adam.
He led me out to the dance floor before turning around to face me. We danced in silence for a while before he broke it.
“So do you want to tell me your name?”
“I don’t know, I was always told not to tell strangers my name.” I was proud of my answer as it had been better then the one earlier. He gave a small chuckle
“I’m Jordan. Now I’m not a stranger so you can tell me”
“How do I really know that’s your name and that you didn’t just make it up?”
“Because if I was to make up a name it would be something much better like James or Shane”
“Fair enough I guess.” When he didn’t reply I continued on “my names
Eleanor Carvello”
“So Miss Carvello what do you think off the ball so far?”
“It’s fantastic I never thought it would-----”
“Eleanor!” I whipped my head around to see who had interrupted me. “Can I speak to you in private please?” Jenna’s tone told me that what ever she wanted to tell me couldn’t wait. I just nodded before turning to Jordan and excusing my self.
