Chapter 6

I went back to heaven. I had to go somewhere that wasn't in my head and I needed someone to bounce ideas off of. That's where Charlotte would come in.

My heaven had a front door, kind of. It wasn't a gate like you'd usually think it was just a door that looked remarkably similar to the door of my old flat. I dug through my pockets in search of a key, but found none.

To my surprise the door swung open as soon as my fist hit it to knock. Charlotte was standing there smiling at me, of course it had been her!

"Forgot to give you a key, sorry!" she said as she presses a small metal key into my palm and led me towards my experiments.

"It's fine, the thought had slipped my mind." I responded as I took a seat at one of the many tables.

"So... your here to ask question and you think I have answers, fire away!" I was surprised! How did she know? Oh, well if she knew then she knew and to add to my surprise she nodded like we were having a conversation.

"To answer the question you haven't asked, yes, I can hear you while you think, but only if it's got something to do with me." She moved to sit next to me on a chair I hadn't noticed.

 "Well then you should already know my question." I told her simply as I slipped the key in my pocket and had a nice "conversation" with her.

I DO, AND THE ANSWER IS NO. YOU CAN'T GO BACK TO THE REALM OF THE LIVING AND BE WITH JOHN. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE, PEOPLE HAVE TRIED AND FAILED. HE CAN SEE YOU IN HIS MIND BUT THAT'S IT. THERE ARE WAYS TO GET BACK TO THE REALM OF THE LIVING, BUT YOU WOULDN'T BE THE SAME PERSON AND YOU WOULD START OVER AGAIN AS A KID.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN JOHN... DIES?

HE COMES TO HEAVEN, AND IF YOUR IN HIS HEAVEN HE'LL SEE YOU AND YOU'LL SEE HIM, IF NOT THEN NEITHER OF YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THE OTHER.

IS THERE A SUCH THING AS SOUL MATES?

YES, WHERE 2 PEOPLE ARE 1 SOUL SPLIT IN HALF. IT IS VERY RARE BUT IT DOES HAPPEN, WHY?

HOW CAN YOU TELL?

YOU WOULD KNOW FROM THE VERY SECOND YOU SAW THEM.

I THINK JOHN IS MY SOUL MATE... ARE YOU SURE THERE'S NO OTHER WAY FOR ME TO BE WITH JOHN??

LIKE I SAID, PEOPLE HAVE TRIED AND FAILED...

HOW HAVE THEY TRIED??

THEY HAVE GOTTEN PEOPLE TO DIG UP THEIR BODIES SO THEY CAN TRY TO GO BACK IN, BUT IT'S NEVER WORKED. THE BODY USUALLY REJECTS THE SOUL.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. I THINK I'LL GO BACK TO JOHN NOW.

I nodded towards her and made my way to the hole I had been looking at John through. I did a quick search and found John still in the hospital.

I slipped back into his mind palace and into my room. Ignoring all the memories I imagined our flat, and sure enough it appeared, every detail, every stain. Exactly the way it had been.

I flopped down on the couch and thought about how I would try to get back to John.

It would seem weird to people in the living world if John dug up my body, so that was out of the question, they already thought him insane, and I didn't want to give them another reason.

Charlotte had mentioned that there were ways to come back, but I would have to start over as a kid, and that I really didn't want to do.

It seemed that the only way John and I could be together  was if he died, but I didn't want that to happen. I would just have to wait for things to play out.
